Folks, here is the next installement from sled. "i mentioned time ago the death of THE hot rodder of Mexico City,Mr Pascal Xavier at the age of 72...he was the one,the craziest one!!! i was lucky enuff to have met him once, and just after introduced ourselves we started shooting each other about vintage speed parts, for some hours....after the lunch he kindly invited me visit him anytime i wanted...will never forget that day!! a month later he passed away and it was a shock for me...is like let a kid smelling a candy store and you'll shut the door suddenly ....no more candys!!!a piece of the mexican hot rodding was gone forever...so many stories to tell!! Pascal was well known in US,beeing lots of times buyin parts and stuff...and racing too.Competing at the Great American Race couple of times, sure somebody will remember him... nicknamed the King of 34's..he sure was...having more than 15 of em!!perhaps more, not sure.. among the other stuff,too... finally i met his ex lady Judith and she let me take some pix around ....thanx a lot, appreciate it!! what follows are some of the cars still there, mostly will remain in the family... about 34's you just name em,plenty of them... included the white painted sedan delivery,in great conds. also a woodie 47 ford,a 35 3w project and a very rare 35 4 door convertible sedan project. well, more stuff to come from the beloved Pascal....enyoy your last ride!!!"
More from sled: "here 1 of Pascal garages, where he did most of his work...actually he build couple of 34 woodies himself.there is one still there, hot rod style... 36 and 34 cab projects...some pick ups..and tons of stuff around.... spent some hours just for the candy eye.... some seriously rare A speed equipment too.... there are many more cars around ,this is only 1 of the places.... Pascal amassed an enourmous quantity of cool shit, leaving his personal junkyard as his friends used to tell him.....happy ride, bro!"
Thinkfink, not an easy car to find....there is a family so. of mexico city wich are totally nutz for Studes, couple of wherehouses filled up with mostly Studes..any kind!! i don't recall a 38 coupe there, but they were not selling either... i remember a 36 dictator coupe, but totally other lines..car was in bad conds too. but i keep my eyes open ,of course.... just been today in another town to check out some car collections...pix will follow soon..
THANKS A LOT... ... for checking Sled and the new pix. Your stories and pix give me goose bumps...time to get to Mexico. The studebaker I look for can be in any condition, but needs to be complete (especially the headlights need to be on).
I just called my wife and told her if Hilary wins in 2008 we're moving to Mexico... period!!! This entire thread is BITCHIN... thanks!!! (this is page #24 already)... what is the H.A.M.B. record for longest thread???

my uncle in mexico owns a 1958 impala convertable it a peice of junk but he dose not consider it a classic he considers it a peice of crap, he also has a 1930 2 door 5 window coupe he uses it to lock up the chikens kind like a chicken pin.
I agree with Decker. I hope to god Hilary doesnt win. I will be totally sick to my stomach. As for moving to mexico. Its awesome. I hope to do more taveling in it before long. Just be sure you make some good friends down there before you actually get there, cary some cash to pay the cops off if you get in a wreck or cause problems. At least thats how it works in Cabo. My wife and I have been talking about moving there for about 6 months now, and once we finish our house, and get it sold, we are planning on moving to Cabo San Lucas. We have checked it out, and she has a job waiting for her when we go.
hey guillelmo, shall we buy to your uncle some real hi tech fences for his chickens are and buy the A coupe and the impala 58? can you convince him ?? in case will send a guy with the latest model fences in the market!!! A5windowcoupe...yep,there is plenty of us guys in Cabo....but no cars there!!really cool place to live indeed, and safe....
I brouhgt 40' Ford pick up thru the Border in Los Algodones( next to Yuma) on a trailer ....no questions askes ...all I had was a bill of sale
primerdave, this can be useful for fiat128....he needs some more infos to pass the border with a mexican car...usually there are no problems from the mexican side.. my little experience passin the border with mexican cars sold to us,well..they don't even asked for papers...simple as that!!! good that you being a US citizen confirm this point...go ahead fiat128,road is open ... good luck...
Michoacan?? nah man, it's Los Cochinos.... 'Sled' ,Interesting to see you are still in the old car export game after all these years!

Anyway, here are a couple more batches for you, from sled: "yesterday been visiting some friends out of town and as usual looking for new cars,so this one was sitting in a small dealer car lot... a 3 window,yeah....steel body, glass fenders and really messed up,a piece of junk really... look what they did in the front...the chassis is not original and so on.. wondering about the price ,and guy came up with 15 grand!!!! note i let a local friend asking....man,there are serious dreamers around.."
Next two posts are from the same entry. "visiting some friends garages, some mixed stuff....also a race Stude almost ready for the Panamericana...."
Here is some more from sled: "i knew about this Zephyr coupe since long, and finally i could touch it....got a soft spot for the 3w zephyrs, the ultimate art deco line to me... in kustom form even better.... the owner put some billet details on,but otherwise car is pretty nice...there lines are killer... also the same guy has a 37 3w in original conds, but was in another place...could not take any pix. other interesting cars in this place too...check it out."
