409 dipstick on passenger side..348 on drivers side. Unless..a 409 pan is used on a 348..if I remember. Found out the hard way..
    I bought a 57 Vette with a "409"..yep..was a 348. Hell I was 18 and in love with that Vette..

Sometimes things happen just by chance, rollin the lucky dices...been in another city to spend couple days with some friends...of course we're meetin some other local pals with car stuff..suddenly a guy said mentioned a 34 Ford coupe project just sittin at walkin distance from him,so we went there and yep...that was true, this 34 3W show up...start to make a plan with the land owner right away since the car owner had that thing sittin there for 6/7 years without payin any space rent or such...so,i could get it pretty quick and sold it easily later ...i realized that was simply too much work, havin other projects going on....but you never know where they are...got guys all the time tellin me about old stuff since they know i'll rescue it...Sled

Ok,i got some Hamb guy askin me about 57 Chevy verts...The story on this is one is the car is currently sittin as you see it for 25 years at list...luckily there is a roof above that somehow protects it..owner has some more cars there just sittin and wastin, and is a weird guy..hard to manage and with tons of money,so i got my strategy in place ...luckily the father of a good pal o mine is friend with this guy's father,ad that's the only possibility i have...so,is only matter to have cash on hand and ask how much he wants for this and another Olds 57 Super 98 convertible...i wanna get out the 2 of em at once.Is a 1 try out chance i feel,if it does'nt work cars are lost to me...too bad, cause they're very restorable...the 57 Bel Ait has a very straight body, easy to work with...so,one of these days when i got the whole bag filled with greens i'll try my luck.....Sled

Here the 2nd car besides the 57 Chevy vert that i want to get as a lot....both or none, cause there is only 1 chance to get em...Owner is very weird and unreliable, too bad he does'nt need money so the deal is not that kind you can play with offers...if he sets a price, pay or leave it,that's it!
So,here we got a rare 57 Olds Super 98 (biggest body and loaded) vert sittin same as the 57 Chevy long time here just wastin...i feel sad when a guy does nothin than let things rotten, not wantin to give it to someone that can restore it properly...but i'll try as usual to rescue this stuff...If i can succeed, the 57 Chevy will be for sale....perhaps keepin the Olds ,i like it better...Body looks quite straight incredibly considerin that is sittin there for so long....engine is out there apart,as the hood and more parts...car is complete,i know that....will see what i can do here, Sled

Hello´s from T J , I guess I am not the only mexican Hamber , I s that the stuff I heard about in Guadalajara? there another 36 3-window in Chiapas but man thats a long haul. I have shiped many a car from farther away south , one time we shipped a Yenco camaro in a papaya truck , I s the Guildsrand car for sale? I ´ve got a buddy that´s into that stuff. anyway keep the guy's drooling, and the fun is in the hunt. I pulled a 1939 Lincoln Zeppher convertible , out of a wine cellar once, anyway their is still gold in Mexico.

Hello Magoozi, even if you type with 2 fingers as you say keep writin...as you say correctly there is still good stuff down here, let me tell ya rarer everyday more and more...but the network works,so you never know what comes up..i love the hunt thrill, really!
The Guldstrand 69 Camaro has been sold in CA to a collector which has the means to proper restore that thing...
I don't know what you heard from Guadalajara but there are different car collectors there for sure...
Mexico is big but no matter where the stuff is,is worth it to be rescued..Chiapas is far south but i would'nt mind go there and get that 36 3w:D..same as you i shipped from way far south,i don't care the distance really...Actually i love such logistics worldwide.
A Zephyr 39 vert is a great car,any pix around??
Yeah,i got much more stuff to add ,i think there are many fellers lovin the huntin stories...Sled

Sphynx, there are many of these funny stories around here...like the Guldstrand 69 Camaro sittin for more than 20 years in a shitty small werehouse used by drunk painters to play domino ...then after some hints a friend o mine let me know...we went there with his 13 years old son and he set the final cheap price....the locals did'nt even know what really was,and for them for just drinkin money to waste in a weekend...Of course we could see a very special car with unique racy details...we discovered later on the real history....luckily we could save this one,in many other cases cars were simply destroyed with an axe!!!Crude, but true....happens still nowadays....Sled

39cent,i prefer 10 times better a 57 Olds vert than a 57 Chevy...much more car for the bucks, and the Rocket especially with the J2 tripower flies on the road...not to mention the beautiful style, great cars..no doubt!Prices for those 98 verts have raised the sky too....mmm,i just realized i don't know if the project i know has the tripower..engine was apart all over,ah!

Robleticia, oppppssss, sorry about that...but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do,ah,ah,ah...i got more stuff on the go unfortunately for ya....have a nice day!!!

  29. I guarantee you that in 6/7 more years when you decide you want it that it'll be gone and you'll kick yourself for thinking it was "too much work, having other projects going on". If anything, you should have bought it to get it out of purgatory and into the hands of someone who'd rebuild it (and make a profit in the process). I can forsee some other Swede working on tracking that 3-window down right now...

Ckickenridge,You'll most probably right on assuming that...i can envision pretty much myself how harder it will be to find such stuff in a not really far future...but it happens to most of us that for any reason we can't keep the stuff forever...hell,in DF (Mexico City ) i bought almost 30 cars once and then i realized to store em safely i ended up payin a small fortune in storage...so,i leaned the lesson and well...depends on everybody's circumstances, right??Luckily i got space now but i know i can't fix em all either...anything is reparaible,i know that...but how much you wanna invest when i know some others in way better conds??Talkin on the 34 3w in this case you mentioned...they are still around here,i know that...and people gets old and sell all the time,so does'nt worry me...lookin back anyway sometimes makes me thinkin for a sec also on the cars gone, but hey....what you can do???
Yep,swedes buy all the time and i GLADLY sell em to them cause they have a deep culture, you bet they go in great hands,no doubt...but basically you're correct at the long distance vision...Sled
