Ahhh, that one...i bought it for 18K and sold it for 24K long ago.It went to Sweden..have lost track since
Impala time...58s to be precise. This pal o mine in DF always buys convertibles and never fix anything..i make jokes of him all the time about it! He has two of em,but in very poor shape that im sure he'll end just swappin and selling em sooner or later..funny guy!!
Yep,right ...a running one ,strong 327 ,th400 and matter of fact we just drove out the basement after 7 years for the first time...the 57 convert is for sale currently to make room of a Buick 58 Limited coming from the USA soon..my pal's dream car
Somethin unique,at list for me...been following leads on hearses and found this one in the deep south of Mexico, close to the guatemalan border a family that had a funeral home for generations..no longer in action, but they preserved the couple hearses still in the family... this is the one that caught my attention... i have no idea who the coachbuilder is,too many on those years makin the same cabinetry, but it has a 1924/25 Caddy V8 engine,EV series i think..also fenders seems to be from the same years...all wood with beveled glass.Dash and rims are Cadillac and the firewall plate too..impressive size too, like a truck...any infos are much appreciate it
Hi Sled.Madre de Dios.What a thread.You don`t have a gold mine there,You have a PLATINUM mine. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
That last hearse is amazing. Can't believe the glass has survived. Someone needs to start preserving that.
Yeah, its one of the most craziest and cool hearses i could find from Mexico..and YES,its for sale but not advertized anywhere, its hidden away ...and i would love to rescue it and send it to a pro guy wich knows how to proper restore this one...i will post some more pics of it,also the cool beveled separation glass inside its all in one piece...amazing ,really...PM me if you want more specific infos...this will be a full mission since its located far south of Mexico ,but im ready for the mission in case...
some more details for this unique rolling work of art...if anybody knows who could be the coachbuilder, please chime in...
Mopar time...an unusual 57 Plymouth hidden away in a shop in DF ..been to check it for an eventual deal but i did not liked much due that needs a full restoration ,way too much for efforts at that time..im talking aprox a year and a half ago,so it still might sittin there ...Mopar experts, please feel free to chime in and let me know if is all original or a bit mixed up. Looks to me that has a Dodge front end,im i wrong??...too many cars, too little time GotGas,are you there???
Yeah,i can see that ..late 50s Mopars til early 60s are kinda weird, mixed up stuff very hard to decipher sometimes, and it to make it more difficult depends on some countries too...
Not really...i dont have anything for sale here ..i just like to show what comes up down here and have fun ..nope,i dont plan to fix the hearse, out of my possibilities really .,.. and my taste more custom devoted.
It is a little mixed up. The front end is part '57 DeSoto (hood emblem), part Dodge CRL (fenders, bumpers) and part Plymouth (headlight buckets). Good chance that it's a 'Plodge' which is basically any export Mopar that uses a Plymouth body with Dodge front sheetmetal and badging appropriate to the brand (Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, or Plymouth). We may be looking at a DeSoto Diplomat, but I've never seen one that has Plymouth headlights and Dodge front bumpers, so that's why I say it's a little mixed up. It might have been built that way. It definitely didn't have diamond pleats and "sport mirrors" from the factory, and that two-tone looks really strange to my eyes. But it's a for-sure '57-58 Mopar convertible with the bubble windshield and Sportone trim, so it is worth diving into.
Gotgas, thanks for the precious infos...that was my tought after lookin carefully for a good while,a mixed up up car ...my feel is more mixed up with different Dodge front end than a real Plodge...they use to make those frankensteins quite often hee, especially using whatever available...very much appreciate it.... Still lookin for that elusive De Soto 57/59 convertible...that would be THE find
