Sled, do you know answer to this one: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2506507#post2506507
My bad Sled, I did take you the wrong way. I just looked back and when you needed some measurements or info, and people came to help out without fail...what makes this place great. Id say a lot of people on here would love to turn out metalwork half that nice, and learning ways to do it is an awesome angle of this place. I just took it as you know how but won't share..."secret" and thought that sucked. BUT, I was wrong, totally apologize my man!
Unionvillehaunt,no worries...nothin happened!again,if you need some Merc help for any reason, feel free to ask... Ether is just mailin me a CD with all his Merc (area 51 ) building pix... and i'm sendin him some old mexican plates for his collection... that's the cool thing on this Hamb family...i can't imagine now whithout this forum... now i gotta go sweat again outside...Bluey is waitin!!!!
Janne,i gotta check on the trimmings, not sure now... but for sure 49/50 are the same.... think 51 is different... but i have many pix and books, let me check...hope i got a free sec!!!
Pure car porn!!!! Learning heaps here, don't stop. I like how you're taking a big job and braking it into lots of small jobs which turns into "The Big Picture" at the end. This is what I signed up for.
no,but the Romans were( and others way before ) and if he was really born in a stable there is every chance a swage block was close by.
Message from Sled: been slow last week, nothing happened...but from today i'm on again and is rusty time...well,jumped on passengers side ,some fast cutting to find out the usual...holes and rust!Swiss cheese is appropriate!! Man,i don't wanna think about....let's keep going and buddys like ETHER are comin up in my mind now...even worse case than mine,i feel supported somehow... Driver's side complete rocker is trimmed and reay to be welded in..pix soon! but will be much faster this side, most parts are ready to be installed, and have all measurements..so,should be no surprises hope you don't get bored ,fellas... Neil Young was right: rust never sleeps
This car wouldn't even be a good parts car to most guys keep up the good work and mid-century-cruiser is right we need more updates!
Mid-century-cruiser Gerg Still alive and well buddys, but a bit slow last week...yeah,you guys are right,it was a struggling on patchin and panels all over..on small details on rear wheelwells...shit,was not good even for parts i realized ,is true.... but there is no way back,i'm motivated and i don't give up,no worries simply seems that i can't see anything done cause so many little details to fix...looks never ending!! don't have enuff pix to post now,but soon they come as usual... probably will put the body into the chassis next week to start cutting for the front clip,at list visually is more pleasing and satisfctory... i'm repeating myself...another merc on the road, another Merc on...so,my karma wont fall down...ah,ah,ah... thanx for the support buddys....
Punkabilly,no worries..i usually do lots of pix,but i don't wanna stress you out here with many... but if you need em i can send em via private mail, with specs and details...just ask!! some Hambers helped me out also, and that's the great thing here...love it,so much knokledge around... are you building a Merc also???
Thanks for all of the pics Sled...I'm building a '50 Merc 2 door right now, and I'm doing most of the same repairs as you...this thread has been an inspiration! Keep up the great work man!
Messge from Sled: took off the body from the rosticcery,to start cutting the chassis for the IFS front clip...started some measures and bracing the the front chassis also.probably this wekeend will be on...
Message from Sled: chassis time now...full braced and centered.currenly takin my time to level the whole things, and then ready to cut out...will use an IFS Mustang stage 2 from Fatman here, will be much cleaner on the overall look...stainless A arms, nice shiny stuff. Also due to the 454 engine use will use front disc brakes, gotta stop somehow... Usually i'm more into old style engines but ok,wanna have some fun here..so,will se how it goes...auto tranny indeed!
Thanx Ken....more pix follow tomorrow i guess... How about your Merc??At which stage are you ??? From the pix you sent me looks beautiful.... show some pix ,buddy....we love to see ....

But is over,1 more step done....
