I remembers seeing a picture of Mickey Himsl's Moonshiner a few years back painted metalic blue. I had been restored to it's earlier incarnation. Any pictures of this great rod would be appreciated

    Thanks

Is that the one with the Kurtis midget front wheels?

Thats the one, the midget rims are 13''. Very rare size stateside I believe but pretty common in the UK. I would prefer pictures form the early 60's when it sported 8spke mags on the front and big five spoke Americans on the rear!!!

And later with spoked front wheels and gold/purple paint: Rod & Custom, June 1963

Thanks Goober - Yeh, thats the style I liked. 12'' rims!!! Smaller than I thought but still a UK size. Would be great to see a few more of it in greater detail. Man I really dig the early 60's look. I think this is about as far out as the T bucket theme got before Dan Wood started the brass era thing that kinda spoilt the T bucket for me.

My personal fav T was Walter Kaline's little mint green item. It's right up there with Norm's and Danny Ivo's highly influential T's in my book. If anyone has pictures of any wild early T's please post

    thanks FB

I think that was Art's first metal flake paint job. There were two dances held on the same block as the Himsl's house and we'd drive by as we crused the dances. When the garage door was open we could see the latest project. One night Mickey and Art were putting the Moonshiner back together after the new paint and Art was torquing the heads. He was rightfully proud of their work and asked what we thought. It was beautiful but I,having a need to be cool, made a smart ass comment. Cool got me chased down the street by an angry painter with a torque wrench. He was quick but I had greater purpose!

Hey guys! Another rod from that era that I really love is the neat turtle deck T roadster built by Gary Heliker. Not too different to the Anderegg roadster famously cloned by Von Franco. It was featured in Rod n Custom in May '62 and again in Hot Rod in July '63 when it had become green??? Only ever seen the candy version. Has anyone got any pictures of it in its green incarnation?

    Thanks again

It's in pat Gahnals new book "lost hotrods 2" with a good chunk of photos and information about its original build, what happened to it and where it is now!
