Danny Thompson (Mickey's son) has been working on the Challenger II (2.5 now) for the past couple of years to prepare it to race at Bonneville again. He's going for the piston driven world land speed record.

Here's a link to his Kickstarter campaign page:

I think it'd be great if a bunch of HAMB members could contribute to his efforts! I just made a small pledge to help him out.

This is going to be a great year on the salt. Lots of heavy hitters looking to run some big numbers. I can't wait!

  8. Yep, way better to help the T man a recognized HAMBster then to help an outsider with connecions already.

Now as for thre piston land speed record I wish the kid all the luck in the world. Be cool for him to carry on a family tradition.

What's the record now? When was it set?

  13. 439 by George poteet last year. I believe he's actually been 460 something but it wasn't a record.

No, i'm horrible, but I've also seen chips stuff naked without paint, he's a butcher in my opinion, not that it matters on this but I just don't respect him

I've liked Mickey since I was a kid and was saddened by his death. I'm gonna drop some coin for a shirt. I wish them well.
