    "Very nice indeed!!

Time for a Mid-Am HAMB chop?

    We have a candidate.

    Prettyman's 52 Buford."

rash, if it happens count me in. i've only been in on one chop before (took 5" out of clarence, my '48 ford panel truck), but would like to be part of another. i'm no expert body man, but i think i could contribute something.

    anyone else up for it?

We threw one last year... a Midwest hambchop... its killers brainchild, talk it over w/him...

I think hes set up some good guidelines

canidate being a young hot rodder w/out the means or experience to do the chop himself.

not a beer drinking extravaganza, but a meeting of minds so the older rodders can have a direct influence on the younger rodders, a way to pass the knowlege...

    hes got it set up...

    ours went down very well.

We had a pig roast, Mark Moriairty brought the futurian, we chopped Tokyos merc, a 23 yr old at the time, college student,,, the toppers came, cas, moriairty and the gang from wisconsin.. kevin from kanada

    It was a GREAT TIME

I think the guidelines are key! Especially if its going to carry the Hamb name.

heres a pic of the merc we did...

We did it in my shop... and a little differnt as far as who paid for what b/c i footed the bill for most of it.. as with poorboy he kicked in for the t's, food etc. So Jasons got it down in that catagory. I would run it like he did it.. and You gotta give him credit for an awesome idea!!

all very good and appropriate comments.

i'm not trying to set anything up; just trying to see if there is any/enough interest in making it happen. sounds like rash would be in. flat-top is in (assuming we use his shop, maybe anyway if it's close enough), there's a candidate (probably would be more than one) in prettyman, and me. that's four total, counting the victom. who else would participate? any other shop offers (flat-top: not discounting yours; just doing discovery, as the lawyers seem to call it)? any other candidates?

from what i remember when a candidate was being discussed a few weeks/months ago for this year's hamb chop, it sounded like there were a lot of people who wanted to be part of it but were too far away geographically. here's a possibility of getting in on something special.

Jason is the man to talk to. We had a meeting of the minds last year and setup the rules...

HAMBchops aren't about raising money for the HAMB. They are about spreading the gospel - that's the important part. I think Jason will prolly agree, but I think its really important to pick the right car and setup the right atmosphere.

    Well SHIT!

I didn't know there were RULES and REGULATIONS.

I would have inserted a smiley there but mine don't seem to work. Have to go Old School. [IMG]

Anywho, right atmosphere? Flat_Tops shop would definitely foot the bill. dragging that bitch for five hours doen't thrill me, as the only owner of a full size truck in our group.

The right car? That could be a problem as this is a 52 MORE DOOR Buick. Much frowned upon in here I know.

However, Prettyman does fit the bill, He's got the bug but not a clue.

We have a guy in our group with his own shop, right there in Tulsa. Could be a location for it.

He is wanting a chop SIMILAR to that Merc and of course, suicide rear doors.

    Anybody have more ideas/input?

  19. My shop in Sedalia Mo. would be available. I'd be in if the location was within 3 hrs oneway at most. Just another option. Dean

    Yeah,

    You caught me Rev.

I just knew you'd be up for it!

Kinda partial to doing this thing in Tulsa as we have a shop available, the car is here, and we have many homes available to put people up in.

I can come pick you up if it's too far to drive Ryan!:)

    Or you could go Greyhound.

You should get to Tulsa in just under 3 days!!

I got a great pm from Killer with the guidelines.

I thought it funny that you can't make money on a HAMBchop. It never even occured to me that you could. I have been trying to figure what this would cost me!

rashy we had a "donation" jar... and everyone stuck in a $10 or more... we raised somewhere over a hundo for the hamb...

i agree w/ ryan... its not about raising money but the "schooling" thats important.

    Killer rocks

sounds like there are 7 volunteers and two possible victoms. i'm not in any position to be the "prime mover" behind this, but if it happens i'd sure like to be a part of it. i'm betting, also, that if it looks like it will happen that more people will step up and want to help.
