Is there a good run-down of what is different or similar between the 53-56 Ford truck series? Particularly wondering how well front sheetmetal interchanges. There's a decent '53 in a u-pull with a definitely usable hood, and the fenders might be okay, but I'd really want to use it on a '56 cab of which I have some options in another junkyard - but some of those options might be F-350. Does 53-55 front sheetmetal bolt on a '56 cab? Does F-100 sheetmetal bolt on to F-350 (or others of the same year?)
The 53/4/5 sheet-metal should bolt to a 56 ok. The hood hinges might be different. The 56 has a bunch of differences. Obviously the doors and windshield. Also the firewall and wipers. The panels behind the headlights are different on a 56. There is a pocket for the headlight assembly as they are set deeper in the grille.
The only difference in the hood is the '56 hood near the cowl on each side of the peak are carriage bolts, '53-'55 does not have these.... All front fenders/inner fenders are the same on the F100.....
The Ford Truck enthusiast site has a 48/56 section. I haven't poked around there but the rest of the site is a pretty good knowledge base much like the Hamb. More so than a lot of single brand sites. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/
