The front clip from an early Dakota pickup might be something you may want to consider. You will get power R and P steering, disc brakes, easily upgradable suspension and motor mounts for just about any Mopar engine.

Non Hamb friendly but (no snickering now) the 3.9 V6 is a light and very able engine, but a 340 would also be something to look at.

There is always this for inspiration.

    PM sent...

I love that car! I think I'll stick with upgraded stock Plymouth suspension. I have access to a pretty great resource when it comes to road race suspension. My OT '67 Barracuda has Firm Feel 1.04 torsion bars, SS springs, all new bushings, 1.125" front sway bar, and a good alignment and it corners flat and handles amazing for a car its age.

Very nice! Are the exhaust pockets sound?

Thanks! The previous owner told me the exhaust pockets were professionally TIG welded to repair them. Let's hope the work is good when they arrive!

I say go for it!! Back in the early 90's I used to autocross a VW Rabbit at Blackhawk Farms in Rockton IL. The car I raced wasn't a GTI which was VW's hot hatch. My car wasn't even fuel injected. Sure, I would have been faster with a different car but I wasn't there to set track records, I was there to learn how to drive better and to have fun doing it. I did spend some money on up grades but my buddy running his dad's stock Honda CRX was faster than me even after my upgrades. At the time I was racing there was also a woman that was autocrossing a Peugeot diesel. I believe she was setting track records but it wasn't for how fast she was but rather how SLOW she was. The point is she was having fun. Your car doesn't have to be the fastest to have a good time autocrossing.
