Event Coverage ** MIDNIGHT MASS - new place and date **

Well here we go again, 7th year and yet another new and bigger location to accomodate this show. Although not all the details have been worked out yet, we know that the show will be at the Placer County Fairgrounds, in Roseville on July 31st. The show will run from 5 PM to midnight, as it always has.

Stay tuned for additional info, but mark it on your calendar now.

 

UGH! I'll miss it again. That's West Coast Nationals weekend, and Saturday night we're there late for the AMBSR award ceremony and party.

glad to know the date me and some friends where talking about the past couple of years and wondering when this year was gonna be

 

Because it is a night show, we had a hell of a time finding a place big enough that was well lit with plenty of electrical outlets for the show. Plus the fact that CalExpo was going to come down hard with us this year. They wanted to search all the cars coming into the show and have more police on hand.

We should be able to accomodate around 1,000 cars this year, the stage is a permenate fixture, lots of shade (except the ballfield), and it's only 15 miles up the hill.

 

No, they said it was just too soon after opening up their hotel (July 1), but they want to be considered for next year. I doubt that will happen. If everything goes right this year, why would we want to go back to a blacktop parking lot.

 

Did they give a reason why? It seems like there were no real problems last year - other than there being a whole lot more attendance than expected - so what put the bug up their *** to invade peoples privacy?

 

It all comes down to money. They made $54K off of food and beverage last year, but thought too many people brought thheir own in. Plus there was a lot of little things that thee police complained about: reving engines, too many cars, and the fact that not everybody was gone at the stroke of midnight.

It's pretty sad when they made almost $100K off a one day show and they ***** about it.

I can tell you that almost every fairgrounds is VERY sticky about food and beverage money. They definitely do not want people bringing their own food. They want you trapped and forced to pay their crazy prices.

People complain all the time about concession prices at Goodguys events, but as anyone who has put on an event at a big fairgrounds knows, the food and drink is 100% controlled by the fairgrounds, not the promoter. The promoter does not make a dollar off of food and ink sales and has nothing to do with the prices.

Their reaction is no surprise to me. It ****s, but it's no surprise.

 

much better location. date does conflict with other events, but that happens a lot during busy season. as for not bringing in food, it is not far to walk to local food places. nice to see more of area than just fairgrounds. book rooms now (list?).

That's why we liked the Auburn Fairgrounds, They didn't care if we got our own or they got the conessions. They are a small community and most of their profit goes to local charities. I will let them do some and we will do some. Trying to get PBR in to do the beer sales. We will also give some of our profits to local charities.

 

They had other events during the time we normally have the show (last Sat. in July), but the date may change next year.

Working on the hotel and rooms now.

 

seems pretty late in the year? hopefully i will be able to make it. its a great show!

Sweet! Midnight M*** has been my annual deadline to finish whatever iron I have in the fire. Looks like I get just a little more time this year. I'll be taking the 50 New Yorker up the hill.
