I'm new to the rodding scene, and I'm currently getting myself in over my head with a '31 Model A sedan build. It's getting a 460 big block, only because my boss gave me the motor for free, and I'd be a fool to pass up 350 free ponies. Anyway, I'm wondering about swap meets and other good sources of parts. I'm looking for driveline stuff now, but I figure I should start accumulating the stuff I'll need later on in the build. I'm in St. Louis. Swap meets, good junkyards...what's around me?
Nobody local? I've heard about the Sedalia meet over the 21st weekend...any others? How about junkyards? Anybody else from the Lou on here?
hey man, i'm not too local but am from IL-chicago. the best source for swaps is to find all the local fair grounds and see what the month schedule is. i have 4-5 local counties that i check regularly to see when the next swap is.
I live near Alton IL. It seems like all the swap meets are overwith. Late Winter-Early Spring is a good time for swap meets around here.
Good guys in Columbus OH, Street Rod Nats in Louisville are two upcoming events with decent swaps. Marion County swap meet in the fall here in Indy is a good one. I know these are not local to you but this is all I could think of right now. You always find the best stuff away from home because it is more of a PITA to get it home.
