I just learned about these. What is your experience with them? I have always done spot plug or rosette welds without needing one.
I bought the optional spot weld panel with my Millermatic 200 many years ago, it came with a notched shield similar to your photo. I don't use it very often but it seems to work fine, of course some fiddling with the timer settings was needed but the practicing part was actually kind of fun because you don't have to worry about screwing anything up. I just took some flat sheet metal and drilled 1/4"holes in one and set it on top of the other and tried different settings.
No experience with them here, seems kinda' pointless. I've always plug welded the panels back together when needed. P.S. What part of the question are we supposed to vote on?
I tried them years ago and for me personally they were pointless. In fact I now cut my regular nozzles back another 1/8" or so. I see the puddle better especially doing inside corners and I can roll the angle of the gun more when welding vertical... Of course everyone has their own preferences.... ..
They allow you to push the two panels together, if the fit isn’t great to start with. But if good fit, or pieces are clamped, no real advantage.
