We recently uncovered some fuel injector parts and a number of receipts from Fuel Injection Engineering Company of South Laguna California dated August of 1971. The "FIE" Company is better known, of course, as Hilborn Injection. The receipts were addressed to Mike Allen, at "Hill's" of 903 South Lindbergh Blvd, Frontenac, MO 63131. After doing a little googling, it seems the current location is listed as "Frontenac Service Center", though it may be gone now too based on the new "office" looking building that can be seen using Google Street view at that address. I suppose these parts could have been used on anything from a dump truck to a boat or who knows what, but I am just wondering if there might be more to the story and thought it might be worth throwing it out there to see if anyone knows any history here... So... anyone here know of Mike Allen or "Hills" of Frontenac, Missouri (western suburb of St Louis)?? I am curious if these parts might have been from a recognizeable or researchable car from the era/area...
I believe that there was a Mike Hill that raced midgets from around the St Louis area and was killed while racing. I think that they have a memorial race for him every year. Don't put a lot of faith in this post as I suffer from CRS. You might try posting on the sprint cars thread here on the HAMB. Lots of people and information available there.
Looks like you already did ask those guys! Thanks. Also got a PM on a Mike Allen that frequented Jerry (Decent) Dawson of Dawsons Engineering in St Louis back in the day. Looking into that as well. No big deal, it would just be cool to know if there is an old story behind these parts.
