I have the older style bell-housing (mounts on the side) mated to a 4 speed in my 55 chevy. The starter mounts to the bell-housing instead of the block. I have a 327 block with mounting holes on the block. Is it possible to mount a mini starter without modifying the bell-housing? I had a mini starter on my last project and it made a huge difference in cranking/starting power. I'd like to do the same with this project if it's not a big deal.

    Thanks,
    Rich

If it is the kind with no "snout", but just an exposed, unsupported gear, then it should fit.

If it doesn't fit, you can use a die grinder on the bellhousing and make it fit....

  4. I put one on my 56 with just such a setup as you have and there was no problem with it.

  5. Should have kept the truck and not bought that piece of crap
