I just found this old 8mm film of a drag strip in Minnesota from 1963 but can't I.D it. From the do***entary I've seen it doesn't look like Minnesota Dragway, and it's not Brainerd, because that didn't open until '68. Is it Twin City speedway maybe? Since I'm too young (only 47) I don't remember either track. My dad's uncle, would when he told old racing story's, would refer to "The tar pits" which meant that the track had a tared pit area which the track in the video has, but I don't know if that was Minnesota Dragway's or Twin City Speedway. You can see Luts 'n Lundberg yellow Anglia and Al Tichishida's (sp) green Willys as well as Alvrin Phifer's black Willys but no sign of that blue Willys found a few years ago, but I think he ran mostly Twin City Speedway.
Starting line and tower pic of Minnesota dragways taken in 1963. The tower looks like the one in your video
@Moriarity After I posted this, I went to the Minnesota Dragway's Facebook page and looked at the pictures and the tower looks exactly the same, so it is Minnesota. Thanks.
I didn't know Jim all that well but I was Leased to the same Company that Myron drove for, real nice guys!
Larry Teter's 32 Vicky at the 2:41 mark. Also, did anyone else notice the window sticker on the red 63 Impala around the 10:04 mark? Or was I just seeing thing's? A whole lotta cool cars in that Vid!
