My Aunt and Uncle used to live on Minnetonka Blvd. in Wayzata, and when we would visit, they would always take us there atleast once while we were there, what a cool place!!! Probably been close to 40 years since I've been there, but to a little kid, it was neatest thing he'd ever seen! I apologize for the semi-hijack @Moriarity, but it did bring back some good memory's!!!
Take your Mom to the drive in and have everyone sing Happy Birthday to her. Get one of those Queen paper crowns from the party supplies store. I bet that would be a lasting memory for her. Seriously Mark - surprise her - I bet she would love all the old cars.
there are sooooo many cars jammed in there by dinner time... maybe 150-200 cars in a place that has normal parking for about 40 or so, It is a zoo and honestly she would hate it... we already have something planned at her favorite restaurant
Might have been longer ago than you thought. They left town and moved to Mexico in 1983. I worked there from 1978-1981
I have the years right. I was at the old factory facility for a few months in '83, and when production moved to Mexico I went to the office in Spring Lake Park (??) for a couple more years.
Understand that. When I was working full time I made a number of trips to and from the area, evening rush hour started about noon it seemed... Around here the main glitch isn't traffic, it's the errant wildlife on the roads. Like, deer, especially after dark. Within the last year, my son and I have both bagged our limit in our daily drivers.
That's a pretty cool offer. Wish I was a little closer.... @Black_Sheep are you listening? Wow. Do they all order food? And how does the restaurant keep up? Do they have enough help?? I think your plan with your mom sounds better. Wish her a Happy Birthday from all the hoodlums you hang out with here on the HAMB.
When my son was little he wanted "real Tonka", not Fisher-Price. When I first started teaching Auto Shop one of the students inscribed "Tonka Rules" on a desk top.
