  7. In the 70's I always ran Cragar SS. My friend had chrome reverse on his '57 Ford. I talk him into Cragars. He comes to show me but he could only afford 2 at a time. He put them on one side. Ran around that way until the next paycheck.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this out loud, but I used to think the early stock/ ss guys ran the mags up front not only for weight savings, but to break the beam more accurately on those Chrondeks.....

  11. I do slot mags on the rear and torque thrusts on the front because I like the look. Slot mags all the way around just looks weird. I also can't afford 4 new wheels and tires all at once most of the time.
Most street/strip cars have the slicks mounted on different wheels so they can swap them over after driving to the track.

The Guardsman Blue in the picture above is the real color of Bill Ireland's T-Bolt. Watched it run many times. 2012-07-26 145929.jpg

Ron ran Cragar SS on the rear for part of the time. When I restored it, we went with Halibrands all around. Willys Bizio Marty a.jpg

    Hello,
I changed the posted faded photo of our good friend, Atts Ono's immaculate 1940 Willys Coupe, just before Thanksgiving on another thread. It is a shame to use such a faded copied photo of the coupe since it is a show quality build... if it is still in that condition somewhere in the Midwest. Shipped to the Midwest in 1971.

Atts Ono was a good friend. He was an excellent machinist and his build shows the details in all aspects of the finished product. He helped us with our 671 SBC motor in our own 40 Willys Coupe. He was considered our pit boss as he could spot some differences in our opponent or what my brother was doing at the staging/starting line prep.

He was instrumental in getting my brother situated and ready for the start of each race. He was also, the last one talking with the door open, just before the start. It must have worked as my brother was getting better with each race. His starts were good, but with each race, he was ahead of each opponent by the time he reached the timing tower distance.

    Thanks for the inspiration... AO

    NOTE:
If anyone uses the red action photo of Atts Ono, please use the one that is clear and has a high color infused print.
    Thank you...gy

By the way, does anyone know who bought the red 1940 Willys Coupe back in 1971 and what was the history since then? Please post or PM me asap. If you do have verified photos or information, I will send you original HD digital copies of of the debut from 1964 as a thanks... not, You Tube versions. Thanks.
