I'm going for the first time, shorter drive for me. The show flyer says hot rods and lead sleds...." NO ORIGINAL CARS". A group from Watertown is going for the third time, they like it..

    I went last year ..

    weather was lousy(rain,rain,rain)
and still I'd guess 150 cars showed up or more
I'm sure it will be better this year and worth the drive

I went in 2005 and drove from Detroit......alittle further then 300 miles:D It had rained that morning but by the time they started the "cruz" from the host hotel to the main street area where they parked everyone, it had stopped. If you want to park by your pals, make sure you cruz in together. There was a nice amount the day we were there. I'd say 200-250. Somewhere around there.

Most of the folks were normal. One of the club members did piss me off alittle by asking if I trailered my car. I guess it was too hard for him to imagine that someone would drive that far for his show?? That's not really the part that I got upset about though. It was the fact that my car was filthy and did he really think that I have such little respect for my car that I would trailer a filthy, dirty car?

We were standing in a boyscout chow line when he asked me that. I looked at him with a puzzled look cuz I really couldn't believe someone would ask me that and stated "Do you really think my car would be that dirty if I trailered it??" As I shook my head and walked away from him. Some people just don't think before they open their mouths.

Please, if my car didn't scream driver, nothing did that day.

Certainly worth a 300 mile drive. I mean, it's not like you have an event every weekend to attend up in that part of the country. :D If the forecast if for rainy and cold I probably would p*** only because of the fact that alot of other people would p*** and there might not be that many cars to check out.

They did do the "awards" alittle different then most. They were given out the next morning. I guess that keeps some folks intown overnight and spending money.;)

Us SOTs were there last year and had a good time.A little soggy but fun. We even had our hotrods show up in OSR, they covered the event.

We went last year and are going again this year. The Outkasts are really nice people. They put on a good show, at least we had a good time. The weather last year was kinda ****py but the turnout was good I think, about 120 cars. I would expect more this year. I've heard alot of people talking about it at the area shows this summer.
About 250 miles for us. Not far considering you can BS all day with people that have the same interest as you. Plus the band/dance at the Corn Palace is a good time too.

Thanks for the kind words. Sorry about that Denise, I think some people just like to say that to see how people will react. Bo huff said the same **** to me and I just looked them in the eye and said Hell No. hope to see you all here this year.

The weather looks good except for the regular South Dakota wind. It has rained the last two years for this show, so that's a big improvement.

Just curious if you made it home OK from Sioux Falls after the Labor Day Rod Run with that noise in your ******? Did you figure out what it was?

Kind of a long drive from Brookings ? Will you be ok ?

  24. Jerry my friend, I have two examples.
#1, Sportmanship, you are a couple years older than I. Growing up in Sodak, the Mitchell fans are militant. When a Highschool team meets up with them in a tournament, all the fans, losing teams and all cheer against Mitchell. The Kernel Boosters are worse than NFL fans.

#2 I totalled a car on that last bridge on I90 before the I29 Interchange leaving a Guard Officer deal in Mitchell. I was stil in my dress uniform when the Hipos showed. But before that deal, the vibe that weekend was wrong. Sorry, Mitchell ****s.

See Trent, there is one GOOD thing about Mitchell!!! Although I wasn't to close to the basketball thing, I can understand how arrogant people can be when they dominate in anything. I did think it was funny when their legendary basketball coach got hauled in for beating his wife, the karma thing you know. We went to it yesterday, the weather was good (but windy) and it was a good show. Probably the last thing to go to before the weather starts to really ****.
