Anyone else planning on attending? This is a FREE non competitive gathering of vintage motorcycle and hotrod enthusiasts on very a frozen Minnesota Lake. Getting registered is mandatory Any donations will be donated locally. Come slide the Minnesota hard water with us! Parade Laps, Drags, Flat Track, Road course, do whatever gets your heart pounding! The shredding of ice will take place This Saturday. Duck Lake. Near Mankato. Get on the ice from the public access, turn left and look for the old bikes, cars and trucks!
Very Cool. Hope you get good attendance. After the ice storm earlier this week, you folks down in Texas could run a similar event without the need for a frozen lake.....
The poster was made before the ice was thick enough to hold the weight of people, cars and trailers. This week and last week the temps were low, so the ice has formed. There was a few sights to have the race, they kept the snow plowed off the track so the ice can get thick. The race will be on the North end of Duck Lake by Madison Lake MN. Saturday the Feb 4th about 12:00. Most of the trucks and trailers will park at Duck Lake park on the South end. I should have "The Heap" there with a full set of studded tires.
I copied and pasted the location info in my post just below the poster. Thanks brjnelson for the additional info. This was the first I heard of a time. Saved me from showing up at 9am,lol
I could never beat Corvettes on parking lot events but I could beat them on ice in the Corvair. (Window down. Life jacket in the passenger seat)
There will be something both days, Saturday should have the most cars. I do know they may open up Sunday for more modern Motorcycles. The next lake South there is also a track on Madison Lake that is open for any kind of car or sidebyside, I think they race both days too.
https://www.iceracemn.com/ https://www.iceracemn.com/ I guess they are Saturday only at the other track it is not Hot Rods only, like the race at Duck Lake
Well that’s a blast! Now I need studs for next year , and maybe bring a pit bike. I only have static pics but I think I made 30 or more laps giving rides, and only stuffed it once where I needed help.
Never been to the ice races in Minnesota. I have been to the ice races in Saskatchewan a very long time ago. That is freakin nutz. Something that everyone needs to experience at least once in their life.
