    Hi all,

What are opinions on Mockup engine and trans?(plastic ones)
I want to use them to move my project along , and get to my fire wall, floor pans and dash work, (Metal work specifically) I have been doing a lot of that lately and want to get to the project. Here is a picture of my “Practice” buck, if it works out it’ll be a go kart for my nephew.

I don’t have an engine yet for my real
Car but I can get a hold of a mock up... as stated I have spent a lot of time with metal Shaping and would like to do more of that now,

My project is a1931 Ford ...here are a few Picts.

So basically, will a mock up engine and trans be a good enough base to Get fabricating on some interior, trans tunnel, dash and firewall?

    Thanks you,

    Japper

What motor and trans. Why not get a empty block and heads, trans case (cheaper than plastic one and you could reuse them for your real motor) and go to town fabricating.

If your investing this much time, why not get the real stuff, a core motor and trans are probably fairly reasonable

Reading comprehension is a good thing, unless I misunderstand his post, he has a chance to use one and not have to buy it! Yes it will work good for mockup so you can get back to work on your build and get it finished up!

I just used one for the first time. My friend loaned me his. I do have a core motor but this plastic one is lite and easy to put in and take out. I guess it only weighs about 20 pounds. I used it several different times. It was a big help while the engine was at the machine shop.

Yes, I have an opportunity to borrow one. Thank you all for the info.

The go cart is a conglomeration of a few old favorites, funny, it does have a speed racer vibe.
I made it to help teach myself sheet metal work. I had done some work but was not feeling good about tackling the real thing and did not want to do poor quality work.

    Thanks again for the help.
