This just started a week ago...decided at the last minute to buy a motor my buddy was pulling out of his '61 Apache...we got it to the house...and the hunting begins... This is the begining...235ci with OG oil bath breather (it's staying)
You can use a passenger side ramhorn manifold from a '68-72 chevy pick-up. They turn back so when you put it on the drivers side it points forward. Learned this from a '40 guru years ago. The only draw back if any is that it has a 2" exhaust opening.
i don't know about you guys but i mock my cars up several times as i go....just to make sure this fits with that and looks good too...
Here's where I'm at with my 36 IH HAMB Auction truck. The Frame has been shortened 23", Model A style front suspension tacked oin place and the Scout rearend and '72 345 IH motor set in chassis.
Mat thrasher, yours and all the other projects on here are looking good. I love to see hot rod and custom projects going together. Heres my final mockup. The 32 chassis went in the rafters for a future roadster project for my dad. I have been patching holes and getting the 33 chassis squared up and ready to box. I have decided on a 60's drag ''feel'' with a sbf/t5 set-up. Motor and tranny are lined up, will be running new hurst tires front and rear. Hope to have it on the road by spring/summer 2011...
Montana Barn Find 2010 This is a great thread because the mock-up stage keeps the juices flowing and helps plan the following steps in any build. Here is my '42 Ford that has been sectioned, channelled, rear fenders raised, and waiting to be chopped.
I have to agree Paul and how many here find the wheels and tires being bought early on as inspiration for the final look?? I find the right rolling stock to be very inspirational during the build process..
ahh, the mock up stage, my favorite part, and the part that most people never get past. Also, a way a guy who will never finish a car act like he is really doing something to impress his neighbors. Here are some of my favorites:
I will not be using those ugly ass rims. And in this pic I do not have the 52 plymouth flathead six in it. Going to be fun one day.
