This is the basic idea. I just drew these up after work and set them on to see what they would look like. I like the BONNEVILLE part, but don't like the way the El Mirage part looks. I plan on painting them myself,so don't give me any fancy suggestions, haha! I'm NO sign painter!
    Got any suggestions?

If you thicken the font line on El Mirage and then add the shadowing it would look better. Just a thought.

I might just go with the same block letters as the BONNEVILLE part. Also, this is just 1/4" plywood,so it will be about 2" taller.

very cool Bob. I'd go with the block letter on "El Mirage" too.

That was the plan. All I had was a pencil and a marker, haha! I'm thinking red letters on BONNEVILLE,black shadowing. Not sure about the El Mirage colors yet.

Lighter colored letters with the black shadows look much better, more contrast! I think it'll look cool on that truck when you get done!!

Holler at me if you need something photoshopped on there to see.... :)

Here's my suggestion...... Stain the wood whatever color you want. Buy decals that have El Mirage and Bonneville logos and have them sized for your side boards and install at each end. Buy an S.C.T.A. decal of their emblem, have a vinyl shop re-size, and put in between the other decals. Then cover with clear urethane , sanding between coats, until the edges are gone.
When referring to the S.C.T.A. logo I'm referring to the one on the left side of the attached pic. Click on photo to enlarge.....JMO.......Mike

That would be too easy, haha! I want to paint it. It will be darker, after the wood is stained. I was just trying to get the layout figured out.

The first idea was white letters and red shadowing, for the BONNEVILLE. The El Mirage was gonna be black letters with orange shadowing.

I don't want to copy Jot Horne's boards, but I might just pick a color for all the lettering, like his, then do black shadowing. Maybe yellow.

Like my buddy told me one time... "When do you ever see Orange shadows in life?" hahaha

I'd stick with all black shadows on the lettering, but the words can vary in color. But it's yours I'm not trying to tell you what to do. Just trying to be helpful.

I'm gonna work on it some more this weekend. Try some different designs. I'm going to paint the mock-up ones to see how it will look,BEFORE I spring the money for the expensive wood. Find the right stain, colors etc...

What does it mean? Two places and a phone number? I don't get it.

not sure I like having both locations on there. it almost like you need a shop name or a race team on there with one or the other race locations. having both names and just a number seems strange. The concepts are nice looking in general.

Maybe some company name, the telephone number and then locations: El Mirage & Bonneville

just keep it simple. DO NOT do the shadow in anything other than black and keep the main color light. I'd probably only use one font as well.
