got a repo chassis with the ford engine mounts already fitted by the supplier

got a dummy block fitted for checking and it seems to be too far back there is about 2" between rad and water pump snout

the water pump is stock length

can anyone tell me what the distance is between the rad mount and the front bolt on the block side of the engine mount (please state drivers or pass)

    thanks

what type of chassis, what type of motor mounts, mounts possibly switched side for side putting it too far back instead of forward ?

As was stated above, if you're using early style motor mounts you are able to swap the mounts side to side and change the engine position 1" IIRC. This is because the SBF mount location on the block is not symetrical.

its a TCI chassis & the mounts are the ones supplied, gearbox mount lines up so i believe the motor mounts are correct way round

2 inches is not too far back.....I have a small block ford in my 33 truck and that is how much space I have between the radiator and the water pump flange....put the pulley on it and the bolts an lock washers and you lose another 1/2 inch....Also how big of a bottom crank pulley are you going to be using this can take up more space... are you going to run a fan on it ...? the spacer and the fan will take up more space.....

How close do you figure you should be to the Radiator ?

2" from the pump to the core sounds Pretty damn close to me.

because its in an A the farther forward it is the more cabin space i will get

i was thinking 1/2" between rad waterpump is about correct? is this about right distance

i'm planning on using an electric fan

  10. on my A from the water pump snout to the radiator core it is 1-1/4"

are you measuring with the radiator your will be using , the radiator is in the correct place ? 3" seams like too much..better get out the saws and welder and move it forward
