I am looking for advice on air conditioning the 30 Ford Sedan (350/700R4)I am building. I think it is best for the condenser to be located in front of the radiator like Walker Radiators has theirs but I don't really like the look and am not wanting to use a stone guard to camoflauge it unless I have to. Any sugestions where it can be located out of sight but still protected and efficient? Any pictures? Thanks in advance.

However, most of these assholes have NO conception of the climate we live in.

    Screw 'em, I say!

I agree with you, AC in the south is a must. This summer it has been 92+ every day for the past 60 days. So please no more Open the window comments from the upper states. It would be like telling you to roll in below zero weather with no heat.

  9. Been there, done that. When the defrost doesn't work it keeps the moisture from your breath from fogging up the glass!:p:rolleyes:

Besides, it was 103 here the other day, its not like ya'll have a lock on warm weather.

Thanks for all the remarks, try a heat index of 115 !! I have a 31 Chevy truck that is not air conditioned and for my better half to go with me in this new one I'm building it must have air. I decided to go with a stock 30 grill shell, everybody else has a 32 shell and I decided to be different if a stock grill shell can be "different"

  11. Then you gotta relocate the condensor so it is not visible;)

just move it out of sight and run a small rad. electric fan with a relay that turns it on when the ac is on. You just need enough air to move across that condenser coil to condense the refrigerant. Just put it somewhere you can pull, or push air that wont bottle up hot air.

    Good luck

  14. I was thinking using a bucket of ice with a fan over it and in a snowstorm I sometimes roll the window down just to see where I'm going!

  15. I had a 31 coupe with air and the condensor was under the car with two elect.fans on it. Worked fair at low speed but finally had to put it out front. Used a 32 grill to hide it

For me, at 73, having AC is a no-brainer.:D I put my condenser under the bed, electric fan for air-flow. Of course the truck isn't slammed, so there's plenty of space. I could figure out something in a sedan, even if I had to build it without a back seat....

The condenser can't lay flat. It has to be, at minimum, 20 to 30 degrees from flat so the bottom(outlet) is lower than the top(inlet) fitting.

  17. Just got hoses installed on my A. Remote condenser with fan, almost flat does not work,'am going to try and use R12 to see if that works. Last resort will buy another condenser and bite the bullet and install in front of radiator. And this sucks in my opinion. Good luck with yours!!!

True. A little sweat never hurt a man.

  19. look on evil bay, there is a guy that built a truck and ran an a/c on it very stealthy. He has good pics. Looks great, he could probably be more helpful than these smart ass yankee pricks.. look for a bare metal model a pick up. The south needs to secede I swear to God...

Put the condenser in front if you want it to work. Its not like you can hide the compressor and freon lines, we know what they are.

a/c doesn't work in my daily, wish it had wing windows like my 53

    Or a 35. Or a 36.

Or if you don't mind being seen as a bit weird and can stand the negative comments from a certain segment of the hot rodders fraternity, a grill off an old tractor. (see attached images for suggestions)
