Shouldn't these fit together? I have about a 1/16" gap at the perch boss. Anyone else having to shim theirs?

  2. you shouldn't have to shim them , they should fit fine together. something must have been modified in the last 75+ years

are you sure it's an A axle?

Someone else just had the same wear on that exact setup. It was a recent thread but I don't think I could find it.

If the perch bolts work loose over the years they, the bones work back and forth. This action wears the bones and axle down abit causing them to be loose. I have found this in alot of the front ends that i have pulled apart over the years, model A's as well as laters. If you just squeeze the wishbone clevis closed they will be fine. You can put a small shim if it's too much, also with paint on the two it tends to get tighter.

Looks like I'll be shimming. Wish I had noticed this before I had my axle dropped. Damn, this car is kicking my ***.

Found this old thread since have the same issue -- slight gap between my A axle and 41 bones.
Some say it's wear, but I think it's how they are made, and the reason P&J carries 1937 - 41 perch boss shims. (#1046)
    Anyway, I'll be getting shims.
