has any one used speedways 4" dropped axles and brake kits. what do you think about them. I am building 28 model a tudor sedan with fenders. also would like to know about useing a 32 grill shell.will a stock hood fit. has any one use anything but a stock radiator on a 28 model a with a 32 shell. do you have to chop the 32 shell to fit . thank you for any help terry
The stock hood will not fit on the 32 grill. Rootlieb makes a hood for this conversion. I think Speedway sells a fibergl*** hood. The Speedway hood is just the top. Rootlieb is steel and they have the side panels. They have all kinds of options for louvers. They also have the grill shell and the insert. I did not section my grill and It looks good. You will have to change the headlight bar because it needs a "V" to clear the 32 grill. You can try to bend your old light bar. The hinges for the 32 hood are different. Rootlieb can supply the hinge mounts. I do not use a hood.
I forgot about the radiator. I had a new radiator made by br*** works at the same time.I just was tired of cooling problems. It seems the stock radiator would have worked but the top curvature was not quite right. Br*** works supplied at 4" chopped 32 radiator. This has been a few years ago. I tried a walker radiator from a local dealer and he ordered the wrong one. I gave him a deposit and then he charged me the freight and restocking charges out of my deposit. He was suppose to be the expert. The radiator came with the wrong size nozzles and a cooler for an automatic transmission. I had taken the stock 29 radiator with me when so there would not be with the inlets and outlets. I think he ordered a m*** produced radiator and charged me for a custom radiator like was discussed. I never did business with him again. The aluminum radiators are lighter than copper radiators and cheaper. Copper radiators cool at least two times more than aluminum radiators.
The 32 shell had to be cut on the sides to clear the cross member. This was completed with little or no pain.
thank you for the help. it has been very helpful to read all of advise from real people who do this ****. not just sell it. thanks again terry
Terry, Depending on what type of front end you want to put together I can help you out with some parts/advice. Nothing cooler than a Model A drop axle. ***us just sent me one and it was a great way to drop my 31 truck. If you need some stock spindles and hydraulic brakes I can sell you some from my stash. Im sure most guys on this site will agree using real early Ford parts is way cooler than a bunch of Chinese junk from speedway. Shoot me a PM. Rob
