Technical model a axle

    Could someone tell me how much you can drop a model A axle and not split the wishbone ?

    It's done all the time.Splitting the wishbone was done usually for engine or trans clearance.
    I'm not splitting mine.

    I dropped my 32 axle to 4 inches and didn't split the wish bone

    Splitting bones is only necessary when guys need clearance for bigger transmissions. HRP

    Dropping the axle has nothing to do with the wishbones. Only the ends of the axle move up but the mounting perches for the wishbone stay in the same relationship to the frame as they were when undropped.

    Dropping your axles ends doesn't change the placement of your wishbone. But you can run into tie rod and drag link issues. Depending on how much the spindle will be raised after the axle is dropped you may need to reposition these pieces. If you reverse your leaf spring end or remove leafs this will raise the wishbones placement thus putting it closer to the frame at a rest. Now if you hit a bump it can "bottom out" sooner because these parts will have a head start.
