I'm in the early stages of re-working the body of my 31 Ford 5window coupe. My biggest question (right now) is concerning the depth of the body/wheel well. My coupe looks like someone might have did a partial tub job. I have a 2-3 rolled metal edge that goes where my inner fender wells used to be. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a lip in the inside (below the decklid) for the inner wells? I think I can just roll a couple pices and weld my patch panels but I'd like to get it pretty close to where it should be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
if i understand right, the piece that recesses the wheel well panel goes from almost zero to about 3 inches then back to zero.
They go in about 2 to 3 inches at the top. They are straight up. The body is wider at the top of the wheel well.
Sweet ~ I was kind of confused because the lip looks pretty stock ~ (about 2-3" wide) Thanks for the help.
I just took the rear fenders off of a 31 coupe... more or less, +/- a quarter inch, the back is in 1/4" the center is in 2-1/2" the front is is in 1 inch
Ok got my first question answered pretty quick so here's a tough one. My 5 window was channeled and then forgotten a couple dozen years ago. Now I have the fun job of adding new subrails and new panels to make it solid. Has anyone gone through this and if so what's the best way to start? I'm thinking on mine the first thing is to rebuild the wood in the top/sides and then flip the body and work from the bottom down to the body. If anyone has insight on this job I'd love to hear some ideas. Thanks Mike
