hey guys. On my model A I was thinking of putting in bear claw latches. if i put the in the door will there be a problem with the window chanell? could i put the pin in the door and the bear claw in the poast? has anyone here done this? The other Question was how do you mount the rear fenders to the body if you want to tub the wheel wells. Its not gona be "Tubed" but just enough to get a little meat in there. thanks eh.

I installed bear claw latches had to build small boxed area it prodrudes slightly inside of door had to use smallest latches available bought from balls street rods, it works okay for what I was doing. I reversed ny doors and made doors flush like 32. I hated the way A's overlap at rear of doors.

On my brother's 28 coupe he put the bearclaws (regular size, not the one-click kind) in the body and the pin on the door. He shortened the pin so it wasn't so long, and only had to cut a shallow notch for it to swing through. The door overlap covers it up.

He placed the latch into a shallow box the same depth as the latch, so it was close to the door (to allow the shorter pin). Not installed from behind. Also got it close to the outside of the body skin to allow the pin to miss the door's window channel. Hold a latch up to the door and you'll see what I mean - there's not much room.

On a 28 sedan I made small "tubs" that went straight up from the subframe to provide more tire sidewall room. I put the fender on and cut the original tub out below the fender's flange. Then made new tubs with the arc of the bottom of the fender's inner flange. Won't get the tire super low into the fender, but pretty good. And lots more sidewall room.
