Well guys I did it and purchased a model a sedan today. It's in fair-good shape and will make a good start to my first hotrod project. I will post some pics of it later. Is there any suggestions or tips you guys have for me on where to start. Thanks guys I can't wait to start

  3. Unk is right on. all i can add is a sugestion as to where to get model A parts from,Snyders Antique Auto Parts, real good to deal with. here they are:

  4. I start my projects with a plan exactly opposite of what I want so when everything goes wrong it turns out like I wanted it to. Take a look at a few other well built cars you like to get some ideas. You want to design the car around you, the drivetrain, the suspension and essential components like the gas tank. Don't add on these things as an after thought. And decide what kind of car you want; g***er, street rod, jalopy, show car, hot rod etc, and don't mix them. If you feel like driving 3 hours to the twin ciies, I could show you my cars, and a few of my friends and give you some pointers as to how to some stuff. I've also got a pretty good library of old 50s and 60s magazines that are full of good ideas for cars. Dave

If your planning on a "off the shelf" dropped axle front suspension, Posies is cheaper than Ch***is Engineering. I put a Posies set up on the '46 Ford I recently traded away.

How are the drop axles that MAS in the twin cities have? I see in rod and custom that they are fairly inexpensive. I'm looking towards a I-bead drop axle for more the traditional look.

  7. I don't know how there ford axles are but my dad is happy with the one for his desoto he bought many years ago from them(MAS). If'n you want a dropped I beam, I can hook you up. Dave

Great advice Unkl, I have a mound of parts in and around my garage that have piled up because of changes of plans in mid-stream...
