Hello, I am considering a channel on 5 window 29 model a. I already "adjusted" the back end to sit over the frame rails by mounting my floor pan and floor frames up 4 inches. My front cowl subrails are in great shape. Does anyone have pics of when they were in the process? Any input from your experiences would be appreciated. I have chopped a few, but this is my first channel. Thank you, Rick
Ask a lot of questions, channeling '28 - '29s can be a challenge... memory says an A frame is close to 5" deep, set your frame level... left to rite and front to back... block up from the floor to your channel hight, at the firewall, A, B pillars and rear quarters... trim the firewall so you can drop it 5"... set the outside body skins onto your blocking... bolt down your subfloor using the wooden mounting blocks to your frame... make steel strips that connect your subfloor to the inner body braces at the cowl, A pillars, B pillars, wheelwells, and rear body crossmember... then fill the gaps... the '28 - '29 firewalls are not much wider than the frame, you may need to spread the cowl side a little... that may require a new [flat] firewall... memory has run out of gas... hope it helps.
This is a 6" channel. It's late, I'll add comments tomorrow if you'd like. Ask anything you want. It's still in progress. Here's a few photos. No I didn't Z the frame. It will end up being Full Fendered.
