Does anyone know where you can buy a frame already chopped 2 inches? I thought you could at Speedway but not for a closed car. I have a 28, 2 door, sedan with measurements of 12 1/4 tall, 45 3/4 top width, and 44 1/2 bottom width. That may vary some because they done a really poor job, I need to work on the windshield post and I ordered a new metal header that goes above the windshield.

If you have the original frame and can get the top rail off, it's not to hard to do yourself.. From the top edge measure down 2 inches and cut at the same angle.. You also may want to move the tilt out brackets down a little so you can still tilt it out...

  3. If they done a really poor job, any pre-made frame from Speedway or anywhere else will likely have to be modified anyway. Chopping a windshield frame doesn't get much easier than a Model A. Then find a glass company that makes shower glass to cut your windshield.

That is what I was afraid I was going to have to do. The one that came out of it is junk. They had it glued, siliconed, and welded. I liked to never got it out. I'll buy a new plain one and slice it I guess. I'll get the post straightened up and fit the new header and then measure for the cut. Thanks for the info.

Most aftermarket frames are aluminum.. I believe Speedway's is....

If you cut it yourself, you an make sure it fits properly. No two chops are exactly the same.

I forgot to mention that I bought an aluminum windshield frame from speedway for my T coupe and there was a 5/16" gap from the windshield frame and the cowl so I had to compensate for this when I chopped it along with how much I took out from the header above it. If you cut it yourself, you can get it right.

I've got to straighten up the windshield post, they are a mess, I'm going to look on Mike's A Fordable parts after while and see what he's got. I know he offers a kit for the swing out arms that includes everything pretty cheap. I had great service on the last order. I waited 3 days on Speedway to get back to me, suppose to be 1 to 2 days. I called today and 5 minutes after I hung up another guy called me from there. When I get ready to do this I may need advice on something, it'll be my first time at this.

If the aluminum one is like the metal ones, you shouldn't have to weld it to chop it...

Fit the upper rubber seal when your checking the fit.

Remember the W/S top is wider, you will need to spread the chopped ends out to match the top rail...
don't cut the angles before you spread the sides out, it changes the angle, fit...
use a goniometer [angle comparitor] to replicate the angle on the top to the sides after you have spread them...
also changes the bottom corner angle so don't cut the gasket till the frame is bolted together...
buddy uses the '30-'31 visors on '28-'29s, looks better and gives a little better traffic light vison...

Thanks, I didn't even think about that. That helps a lot.
