    Hello all,

Im trying to find one of the steering column drop extensions, that extend the standard drop down another inch and a bit.. I thought they were available as an aftermarket part, but arent having any luck searching for one. Anyone know if they are reproduced or if I am having a memory lapse about them ever being available?
here is a link to a pic of one, aparently they were originally a Ford part on Victorias or some such..

    Thanks for any leads!!

Go over to the Ford Barn. The Model A guys over there have all the answers and are very helpful.

    You're welcome.

These are a great idea if you're using a full size wheel.

I used Lime Works column, wheel and drop and love them all.

I used a later 35-36 big truck column drop / lock in my '32. It was longer which allowed me to modify it to get the length and angle I wanted

I made a bracket to lower my '36 MOPAR column drop about an inch and a half, and then made a sheet metal cover to hide the bracket and mount the ignition switch.

Not sure about that. Here is the original mount in the link that Lowsquire posted in it's original form.

That pictured column mount has the spacer in it.
The 31 column mount is bolted to the rail under the dash rail.
Both spacer for the tank-mounted column mount and the 31 bolt on mount are available in the stocks of Model A Parts vendors across the continent.

How about an old connecting rod cut the desired length?

The original column mount is brazed and riveted to the tank. This piece is a bolt in to lower the column and not modify the tank.

It is a spacer that drops the column slightly, originally used on the Model A tudor phaeton which had lower seats than most A's.
For installation all it needs are longer bolts to hookitup to the standard drop.
A lot of people like it in other A's but it has vanished from the repro catalogs.

I like to change them to the later style mount that hangs the column from the pinch weld at the top of the tank, where it wont create a fuel leak.

  17. I used a stock column and stock drop with the key lock and switch from a '41 Ford. Made a bracket from square tubing that is flat on the bottom to take the drop and angled on the top to fit against the bottom of the roadster dash. Dropped the column about 1.5 " and works great...
