Model A coupe chop vs. my height

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hillbillydeluxe, May 21, 2006.

  1. I'm curious if you're comparing to a late model, a stock Model A or a revamped hot rod A with not particularly good seats.

With a little effort you can make the car very comfortable.

This may be understood, but if you put your seats on the floor just make sure to put some sort of cushion towards the front that causes a break at your knees. If you've ever been in an athletic training room and seen the guys sitting on the flat tables for therapy, the the trainers will use rolled up towels or coffee cans wrapped in towels to put under their legs, creating the break. Anything to keep the legs from being staight or having tension on your leg muscles. That is what causes most of the problems and those problems go all the way up the back.

I thougt loudpedal reverse sectioned the body. That would add room plus it really changes the proportions. I love how it looks.

  4. How about a dropped floor section between the tunnel and the rail? Been done before?

It's not just the headroom. We chopped our A 4.25 inches, looks good. thin buckets out of honda fit nicely and are comfortable, but we can't get the rest of it right. My son and I are both 6 ft to 6' 1". When we mock the seat back far enough to get our knees our of our nose, the steering wheel is too far away, when we bring the wheel back, you can't get in and out of the doors unless we do a removable steering wheel. Also not happy with the pedal setup. the original through the floor pedals don't work well when you come straight at them from down low. Plus my son's number 12's hit the pedals at his arch, not the ball of the foot. We are running a stick shift, so pedal action is pretty constant. Nothing you couldn't live with for a short run, but we live in south texas, its 10 hours to the border, and we intend to drive this thing. Suggest you go to every gathering possible and beg to sit in some cars that you like. See if you want to spend a day in that position.

Look for the posts on Metalshapes roadster, he dropped the floor and made it into a unibody car.
