I am hoping someone can get me a measurement and maybe some pics. I am looking for the dimension of the decklid opening just above the below the decklid panel, like in the picture below. also, all I have is a new panel from brookville. I am looking for pictures of the structure inside of that panel as well as how the decklid is supposed to latch. Thanks for any help.
My Coupe is a '29 and the opening is 35 5/8 inches. Originally it was a rumble seat but I fab'ed a set of pivot hinges for the top and used a stock handle and lock in the bottom to latch it as a trunk. I could show the pictures inside but not stock. All I did was take a piece of square tube to run across the opening just inside the lid edge for it to sit on, made a small cross piece for the latch to catch on when closed and attached a foot at each end with holes to screw into existing body holes. Pretty straight forward (think spreader bar). Hope this helps. Could get pictures sat if you like, pm me if you wish. Kind of cold and dark in the garage right now. Pete
The panel just forward of the one pictured is the trunk curved inner panel. It screws into the panel you have along the top and has the "stop" for the trunk lid and latch hardware. Mac's, Snyder, etc. has them. Brookville too probably. The distance you're looking for is the width of the panel you have, it's a matter of getting the two sides parallel to get a consistent gap around the trunk lid. as dino said , there is a curved inner panel that has the latch and bump stops...here it is from Snyder's http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/inner-panel i just measured my `30 coupe , yes the width is 35-5/8. i have a crappy camera so no good pictures. i think if you took a look at one in person it would all become clear...does anyone over there have one you could look at?
