Price of steel has dropped the vaue here is by steel weight/sum of sellable parts if ya can't afford parts or want a better starter move on like you have stated hope some one can use these pieces..at the lowest possible price ..
I found a kid on Killbillet who drove 2 hours and passed on it! He's 20 and doesn't have the skills yet to do it. Looks like she'll rust a little bit longer right where she is!
How much trouble would it be to get a****le for it? If a****le could be had easily, then this could be a great buy. As far as building this on a jig, you could start building it on a solid frame; just start with the cowl and floor, then the cowl aligned to the door and just start piecing the rest of it together. If is very fixable and would be awesome buy if it came with paper.
Anyone step up yet? Pollsters all say buy it, until it's their money If you get it and part it out,I'd like to talk about the rumble lid.
wow that was quite a drive, almost to Ohio haha I did stop at Cabellas though, never been there so that was cool to see as for the car the frame seemed decent from what I could see, but it would have just been too much work for me and it would have taken me way to long, and not having the garage space for a large project doesnt help me either..Dave (owner) was really nice and glad to have met him, shes still on the market if anyone wants it I'll wait and find something a little bit easier and just continue to save my money
Ahh, the power of the HAMB, it never ceases to amaze me. You guys do know they don't reproduce coupe quarters, right? They make patch panels, but they don't reproduce the whole thing. Quarters - $1000 Cowl - $100 Doors - $100 each (if super nice they'd be $200 each) Frame - $100-$300 depending on how bad it is Front axle - $100 That's $1500. Should I keep going? Didn't even mention the trunk lid or center panel. Some of those parts are such a****** to find you can sell them at a swap meet before noon and the guys will be glad just to have something they can fix. Others, you might never sell, but they're still worth scrap weight. Now the whole car with a little cleanup should still bring $2000-$2500 depending how many more loose pieces come with it. But I've seen less car sell for more money - hell we've sold lesser cars for $2500-$3000. And that's not worth $500? Seriously, the last Model A related thing I sold for $500 was a sedan cowl and back wall with two mismatched doors (both lefts, one round top, one flat top) that both needed wood, to cob together into a WWII-style truck conversion. And the guy was grateful to get it, he drove about 5 hours to pick it up, because he knew it was going to cost him at least five times as much to get a coupe body. Now I know with the economy slow right now, you're not going to see quite as much money for the stuff... but to say that's not worth $700? I don't know what you're smoking, but you should share it around.
Rusty, I didn't say it wasn't worth $700, I just said I would pay more than that. Also, I've mentioned the doors are toast and the quarters are far from mint. There is rot in both and dents in the top of one. Ratpak is now #1 on the list and I'm PMing him the number tomorrow. If I weren't being laid off for 3 of the first 8 weeks of the year and I hadn't spent $500 on new glasses, I'd have it over here. Instead, I've offered it up and folks are flocking AWAY rather than TO it!
I think its worth $700 to somebody, just too much for me I'd personally just rather spend more and save myself time and frustration working full time, going to college full time, running my own business on top of college and my other job and then trying to find time to have fun and be 20 is hard enough alone, then trying to fix that car it would have been years before it seen the road..so I figure I'll spend $1,500-$2,000 get a nice body will make my life much easier and will give me a rod before the year 2020 haha I hope somebody gets it, I'd hate to see it get scrapped or anything like that
well i guess i will put this post to rest or get it going again................ the coupe is going to be a project of mine besides the crestline......gave dan a call and talked with him and also talked with dave out at the site, hopefully between now and wendsday she will be in my shop, getting ready for the journey back to street form and being drivin the plan is for a flat 8....yep, a flat head. need to get with you guys to start learning about flat heads and what can bolt up behind them..........but i got time and yes.......I got it for a hell of a song and dance............thanks dan for your help in finding this ride
Congratulations Dave. I was going to ask Dan what happened with this on Saturday and forgot all about it. I have a 48 car trans and rear just sitting in the garage if you are interested in it. Did not get to meet you at the swap but there is always next time. Let me know if your interest and we can work something out even if you are a M fan.
Did you get my bumpers?!? Glad to hear you landed it. I'll be changing tires on the trailer today and going to fetch the boy's truck tomorrow so it'll be open Wednesday. I'll talk to Dave about loading it (and my bumpers) up and strapping it down. Worst case is Thursday since I've got to go to Ypsi then anyway.
