Somebody in Puget Sound should rush over to Paul's and make sure he's not ill or that someone is using his name.

Hey there Artiki, I saw the pics of your car and from what I saw it doesn't look to me like you have any room to call someone elses car a **** box. Good for you, you got a bone stock "A" with the fenders ripped off. WOW! maybe you got a rover swap in mind. whatever. Buy the way, have you seen the car in person? Or maybe your just wanna sound like everybody else. Dont take no offense to my little reply I just think someone who rips on someone else hard work aint got no ****in cl***.

    Hi G***erfreak.
First of all, thanks for the reply and the forthrightness of that reply.
Secondly, no I haven't seen the car in person. I'm approximately six thousand miles away, so it's not possible.
Does this mean that I'm not en***led to comment?
I see you're using a photo from eBay, have you seen this car?
I also see that you are quite new to the board, I am fairly new myself. I don't know whether you were around when this car was the subject of several long and eventually boring threads. (If I remember rightly, these threads are now locked though you can still view them.) One of which featured many photos of the car - photos that were not shown on eBay - taken by the guy that has now been entrusted with making the car safe. The car - in the condition that it was sold, and the condition in which that photograph you posted was taken - was a deathtrap. I can't remember all the facts but I seem to remember that lock-nuts had been left off and gobs of weld had been used to secured rod ends instead. The 'section' job was just the lower part of the body cut away. There was no seam welding done, everything (including the chop?) was just tacked into place and then painted over. I'm fairly certain that the steering geometry was completely out and the suspension was set-up wrong. Wasn't the front screen plexigl***? I'm struggling to remember everything now, I'm not as good at remembering things as I was. But there was a series of many photos, each of which was more frightening than the other. Many HAMBers commented on how bad this car was, which is a real shame, because I think this car looks amazing at first glance. I said so in one of the original threads. You just have to look deeper than first glance. Somebody paid a fair amount of cash for that car and now needs to pay a similar amount before they can drive it.
Here in the UK, a car like that deserves the ***le '****box'. I'm sorry if that offends you and I'm sorry if that offends the guy that built the car, but I'm sure he's had much worse insults come his way since he built it.
As for your personal insults to me, well let's see.
Do I want to sound like everybody else? Well, that depends on what they're saying. If I think what they're saying is right, then yes, guilty as charged.
My car? Once again you are spot on. My intention was to build a late '30's/early '40's gow job, the sort that I've read about for 20-odd years. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but back then, didn't they get a stocker, make it as light as possible and hop-up the banger. Correct me if I'm wrong, please, put me right.
Your quip about a Rover swap is excellent and will make quite a few of my friends over here laugh. Some of them often joke that I should fit a Rover, it would be an awful lot cheaper (and quicker) than these banger parts I keep buying. No, I'm not considering it though.
As for having no kl*** (sic), I'm not entirely sure what is meant by that. Are you saying that because I have made a negative comment about something you like? Do you not have freedom of speech written into your cons***ution or does that only apply when you want it to?
I've found some of the photos for you, it'll save you searching.
No offence taken, by the way. [IMG]

If you'll notice, I did repair the typo oK. Kool enough for ya. I think I fixed it about two minutes after i looked at my own post. As for the car I was in contact with the builder and current owner, and was aware of the deficiences of the car before I attemped to buy it. As for my my opinion of the car it has not change. I still think it had the look and alot of potential. Neither has my opinion of people talking poorly of someone elses effort as you'll recall I threw no negative comments toward your car. I'm actually fond of the 40's style, and Fordbangers.

I apologize if it seems like just another new guy starting ****, since a friend turned me onto the hamb I've really enjoyed lurking, then partaking. And have learned alot from others with more experience than myself. I joined this forum to make like minded friends, not more enemies.

    Thanks. Drew

Woah !! [IMG] Fordy 6 I love that look. I wasn't never ever gonna chop mine but now i'm having second thoughts!! How much did you chop it by? Is it going to stay like that or is going to get more radical?

4ever4...my coupe was chopped 3 1/2" and runs a B motor. Have a 4' dropped axle and lower rear spring - yet to be installed. Probably go with a single bar bumper, dropped headlight bar, etc. Here's a pic of the B...
