Jeff, I have added some more pictures to my album. I have a long way to go. I did cut the back of the frame off. I'am not going to run the 32 tank either. I like the way you did the door tops. Looks really clean!!

Wow, that is some impressive fab work. Making a roadster from a coupe is no small task, yours will have a finished look.

I thought you raised the quarters to set on the '32 frame but now I see what you had to do. Looks like some damage to the right side? Mine had a tree fall on the left side. I'll see if I can dig up more pictures.

I loaded more pictures of the rear panel.
Here is the dies I used. The curve is the hard part. This is one of the first sets of dies I made for this machine. I would do alot different now.

Here is a picture of the machine. It's a Baker truedge. Nolan and Lennox came from the same family.

Wow man I need to get some more tools. All I have is a hammer and a bigger hammer.
My passenger quarter panel is/was wasted. Iam slowly beating it back into shape. It was missing the lower corner so I had to make a patch. (not a very good one)

Thanks for posting the pictures. It really provides the much needed inspiration.

Just found your build from the roadster to coupe thread. HOLY COW!! Your workmanship is amazing! I am constantly amazed at what guys are doing, and what some of us start with. That windshield is a work of art, I wish I had half of your talent.

The hole die is neat, now I may have to see if the 32 rails I have are good for something after all!!! Nice work, Rick.

Since I have the doors working now I decided to put bear claw latches in before I tuck the body and frame away. Hard to work on anything else with it where I can get to it.....

I made a pattern of the cutout I need on the door.
Then I trimmed the original stricker out of the door and installed the latch in the same location.
I also installed a inside door handle assembly out of a spare '40 Chevy door I had.
Here is the cage nut I made for the jam. It's a peice of the 3/4x2 tubing I used for the subrail, with 1.5x1.5"x.5 flat inside tapped for the stricker. I welded it in and boxed the jam.

I finish both latches today. Nice feeling having the body bolted down and the doors closing.

I plan on welding the holes closed and eliminating the outside handles. Won't have glass anyway.

  18. Another great rod build to soak up. Love the windshield. Looks like it came off a B-17.

I used a '40 chevy windsheild for a pattern to get the angles, then chopped it down untill I liked it.... Thanks for the compliment, the more I look at it in the shop the more I like it.

The right side is slightly different but I'm happy. 20171018_113758.jpg the next step is the finish the transition into the doors.
