I need a car cover for my model a roadster, no fenders - for inside storage (dust cover only). Anything you all are in love with? Thanks!

Going back thirty years, I went with California Car Cover for my sedan. It breathes, used mostly inside, but at some point it lived in the the rain, and sun. It still looks nice and the fitment is fine.

upload_2021-11-29_5-50-13.png Our California Car Cover version fit all of the way below the running boards and had a lock tab on both sides. We never had to use the lock tabs back then. We also, never used the cover during the sunny days not under the car port, either.

    Hello,

We lived near the ocean for many years. The salt air was a killer on everyone’s cars, as the daily flow of salt air came onshore every afternoon like clockwork. If your car was outside, by dinner time, it had a nice layer of salt mist on the whole surfaces, especially the chrome work. It had to be cleaned almost daily with a hose spray and wipe or just a hose spray and a high speed run on the open empty highway near us.

The salt was definitely a damaging aspect of living near the ocean. Our chrome and sometimes even the painted metal items inside of our apartment or home had rust of some kind unless the Blue Coral wax was used for a protective coating.

We thought that when we moved to a house high up in the coastal hills we would be above the salt air level. On some days, we could see the fog and moist salt air down in the canyons leading to the ocean. It was thick and rising. But, for being in the higher elevations, the majority of the fog/salt air did not get as high up into the local hills and peaks.

But, as we know mother nature, sometimes our 40 Ford Sedan Delivery with the 327 motor did get covered up with fog just sitting on our carport. So, on those days, and thereafter, a thorough cleaning was necessary. Despite having a two sided open carport, the rushing thick fog did get to our higher elevation location and … “Rust never sleeps…” as we have heard from Neil Young.

Most indoor car covers are thinner versions of the protective outdoor versions. The California Car Covers from back in those old days had a felt surface on the inside and the outer layer was the water resistant protective surface. It was good to keep the car clean on a daily basis. But, inside of our car port was the only place we had the cover on the sedan delivery.

We tried a simple thin car cover at first, but it actually did nothing other than look silver sitting on a red 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. If we did not go anywhere on the weekends and the sedan delivery was just sitting there, it did stick to the painted surface at times. Not good for the paint, but if caught early, a wax coat would help with the paint.

Our final cover was a more expensive one and with inner felt line surface, helped keep the sedan delivery clean. With winds that used to swirl around the two sided carport kept the circulation going, which helped with moisture underneath the cover.

Even inside of a sealed garage, hopefully the covered car will be checked. Warm to hot weather inside of a garage does all kinds of weird stuff and a covered car is sitting under a plastic type of cover not allowing what is underneath to breathe. But as we all know, several different car cover companies claim safety for all car surfaces. So, YRMV

I ordered one from Covercraft to fit Brenda's 1954 Ford Ranch Wagon, it fits like it was made for a 1957 Cadillac, it must be a universal one size fit's all, I use it only when I have to leave the car outside at motels at night.

    Never again. HRP

Another vote for Ca Car Cover. Been using their covers for 30 years. They are not ONE SIZE FIT'S All.

California Car Cover had a set-up at Pleasanton in 2014. They took some measurements of my T on the spot, and
around two months later it arrived at my house. The fit is perfect and the quality is top notch. After all these years the
elastic is still tight and fits as good as ever. DSC05014.JPG

Another happy California Car Company customer here.

I bought one of theirs for my A highboy coupe last year - great fit, but it wasn’t one of the covers listed on their web page. Call them and tell them exactly what you have and they’ll make you a nice one.

And…… Alliance members get a discount that may just cover the cost of the membership!
