My open car. Almost there. Posies reverse front spring with one leaf removed up front.

2" tardel Z with a regular eye spring and two leaves removed in the back.

I think I underestimated how much wider the 40 rear would be and I definitely wont modify the wheels. lol

On this back burner project which is channeled with the rear fenders raised I am undecided whether to bob the fenders or use the bumpers I have started to build out of the surplus 304 stainless I had in the garage. Bumpers will go better with the long fenders on your roadster as well. IMHO

I had recently saved these pics, simply because I like the look, even if purely aesthetical. Can't remember the origin or owner. Would look great with bobbed fenders.

IMG_3292.jpeg IMG_3339.jpeg IMG_3569.jpeg @Stovebolt lengthened frame to accept spring behind. Narrowed and stepped to fit in between subrails and live under the rumble base with no modifications. Heavy drop axle with reverse eye and 32-34 spindles.

    @j ripper

    Thanks for your reply

My coupe currently runs a stock 33-36 axle with a reversed eye flattened front spring and a T rear spring.

I do have a dropped 32 axle and another A spring and 36 rear bones to lower the car when I've really had enough of the bottoming out of the T spring against the rear end.

Mines a 33-36 axle as well. By heavy, I meant the amount of drop. The photos posted above are with a 4”. What you see in the current pics IMG_3622.jpeg is this axle.

Thanks for the additional information and pictures of your swap Josh. The drop on the other axle sure makes a difference to the stance.

Here's my axle as compared to my other 32-34 axle

I am aiming for a stance as close to this recently imported coupe

My mate's 'stocker' does not have a stepped frame - his is all in the spring.

I was sent these photos by the guy who did the modifications to this roadster. He has since moved it on. Dunno who has it now

I stole that picture for inspiration too!

@Stovebolt that imported coupe is grouse, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, I have just picked up a 33/6 front axle & a reversed eye rear spring for my RPU, hoping to get it sitting a lil better. That sport coupe sits so well!

Taking that car apart is my biggest car related regret.

holy shit that’s great! Are you going to use the running boards? That might skew the fender options one way or the other

Thanks Tim. I'm reluctant to post pics of my AV8 because of the obvious infractions but I see this as a body modification exercise. The mods can decide what sticks.
I found that even narrowed running boards made it hard to enter and exit a channeled car. I tried. The rear is tubbed and the fenders are moved inward as well as the front fenders have had 3" removed. These are all old mock-up pics with nothing fastened or finalized. Today the project is much further along with countless discrete modifications.

Looks killer! @-Brent- narrowed his coupes fenders front and back as well but his sits tall!

I'm not seeing a single thing that’s out of place on the hamb but I get what you mean.

Man I kinda like the back fenders long. I might be tempted to find a piece of stainless side trim to stick on the skirt where the board used to be? I might photo shop it later but in my head it makes since.

Thanks 1946caddy, Shadow Creek put up the link in post #39. Cool car!

I could easily make a stainless molding or some kind of simulated nerf bar but I don't want to over do the stainless. I have made a tiara type molding to hold the front of the 2 piece removable ABS roof. Still have to upholster that. DSC07162.JPG DSC07744.JPG

My coupe is not for this thread but I did weigh whether or not to run bumpers (not stock bumpers, however).

At the end of the day, I chose nothing in the front and a pushbar in the back. It works with the visual weight of things and the purpose of the car.

image_123650291 (1).JPG image_123650291.JPG image_123650291 (2).JPG My 29 is still sporting Model A bumpers and stock height windshield. J Ripper your roadster is an inspiration!! I believe a chopped windshield is in my very near future. I like the bumpers but may look into changing the look this summer.
