Im trying to get the firewall out of my 31 model a sedan so I can start on the frame. I un-bolted everything and ground down the rivets but it wont budge. I was thinking it was probably seam-sealed in there. Is there a trick to getting these out besides heating them up to melt the seam sealer. Help me Henry Ford!

  2. Drive a rigid putty knife between the firewall and the body panels. They usually don't come out peacefully.

  3. there are spot welds , many of them. they are hard to see but if you run a bit of sandpaper over them you nay be able to see them

Should be just a bunch of spot welds. When I worked on mine just about the time I thought it should be loose I found another. There is a body man tool for splitting panels that have been spot welded. You can find them in the Eastwood catalogue or make one your self. basically, it is a flat thin bar steel and you shim it between the panels and the strike the bar with hammer to split the two.
