Just a CYA, Delete these pics NOW. In NYS I can print out a picture of this ID number, walk into the DMV, register the car right under your nose. Then I could report it stolen and your car is MINE.. It has been done before. All I need is a picture or a rubbing of the number and I can get a title for anything! NEVER post you f'ing serial number or vin number if you want to keep your car
I have a small shop in East Oakland. The body will not need a number. There was not one on the body (cowl or otherwise) from the factory. On an Model A the serial number was stamped in the engine at engine plant. When the engine was mated to the frame on the assembly line, that number was stamped in the frame to match. In 1930, there would have been a body production date on the firewall, above the tank seam, but no serial number there. CHP knows where the numbers are on a Model A. They know what they are supposed to look like. I don't know what it is like in other places, but the cops here are educated, especially the ones who inspect VINs. Be honest, and you will be fine. Lie, and you might get screwed. It is pretty easy to do it right. You have legit stuff, so it should be OK, provided it is not on the hot sheet.
Delete them out of your photobucket, asap!!!!!. The guy that quoted you has a direct link to your PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT
Yah Cali sucks, ignore post 15 if you have balls, will they make you take your body off to show the number? because it's under the firewall and apron. it's a 1930 from this site http://1928ford.com/identification.html wish I had my Tam's catalog, he prints the SN list by month in every catalog https://www.modelaparts.com/catalog/template.cfm?pagename=publicwelcome
Why? It is an easy enough system to manage, if you can read, and have a little patience. Yes they will. I have to take them in on the trailer, with the body on the deck, behind the chassis. Also, not hard to do. I don't really see this as a detriment. It is the law, it is pretty easy to comply, and it prevents jokers from screwing up the system for the rest of us.
That was a good move removing all the pictures of your I.D number, but it still shows up in the text in post #22!
