Hot Rods Model A Front Bumper: Keep or Remove

Trying to decide if I should Keep or Remove the front bumper on my coupe.
The First pic is mine currently with bumper
The second is an example of the general direction i am thinking of going.

If you're already not running a rear bumper, I think I'd want both ends to match.

 

I like Model A bumpers myself, but if you want to try something different, get some stainless steel bar stock, maybe in a different width, just to change it up and give the front a new look. Stainless bar stock is cheaper by far than buying new bumper bars or getting old ones chromed.

 

Always considered, pair of tubes, Nerf bars, or frame horn pipe, chromed.

 

as said, if running stock bumpers do both ends

or go with nerf bars on both

 

I like it without the bumper. Mainly because you don't have a rear bumper.

 

Unfortunately stainless is not as strong and strength is good in a bumper.

I won't be putting rear bumpers or nerf bars on it.
It has a large rear roll pan made from the back section of a 51ish ford truck cab
It really cleans up the back end and I would have to cut it to get to the frame to mount rear brackets.

 

Just about everybody agrees - full fendered Model As always look better with bumpers ...

 

Ditch the bumper.

I like chrome, therefore, I would put the Model A bumpers on both ends. That is what I plan for mine. I'm sure whatever you do it will look great.

 

Well 1: I’d have to see the front of the car first
And 2: would you be dropping the front end of yours to match the bumperless example?

 

My avatar is a 28 and I'm building a 30 V8 A and don't run bumpers on either of them. Cleaner look, nerf bars are cool if they are the right style,

 

i will be lowering the front an inch or so via tire size.

Toss the front bumper, front and back should match.
Really love the two tone colors!!

Do people in your town drive and talk on their cell or text?? That's why i have bumpers.

 

...........................I can appreciate what you're saying, but I don't think a Model A bumper is going to do you a whole lot of good when one of those clowns crashes into you.

 

Agreed...a bumper is not going to do much against a modern car of any size
Adding a back bumper really isn't an option. I have this really nice roll pan made out of the rear section of a 51 Ford cab. I really don't want to take it off and cut into it

Sorry.. But I'd get rid of the front bumper and the rear roll pan.. But what do I know....

 

That roll pan looks strange, a lot of work but it don't look right, almost like a diaper of sorts.

I know what you mean tho. It's not the perfect solution but it's not terrible either.
It was on there when I bought the car and it will stay for this driving season anyway.
It just isn't that high on the list of things i want to correct/change/repair.
Current list includes:
Track down a rear end rubbing noise (probably drum rubbing a backing plate)
Ride quality...is there a word that is worse than harsh?
Speedo calibration
Instrumentation (they should all work right?)
Track down assorted rattles
Sound deadening/finish interior (headliner)
Add a hood and wire wheels
Fab a divider panel between trunk and passenger area.
Maybe after all that I will have a long hard look at that roll pan...

Hot Rods had everything removed that they could unbolt. OK this is a generalization.

Some states required bumpers and fenders. But even on a fender car I would remove the bumpers. But that is just me I think.
