I am installing an 8” or 9” in my Model and keeping the stock crossmember. I want to keep the buggy spring but it gets pretty narrow perches at about 40” would be approx 35” spring. Model A front spring is 31” (I know that it uses a narrower leaf) so with perches in the right location it could work. I would be using a panhard bar so that would help. I’m not aware of anybody that makes a 35” spring (not to say I couldn’t get one custom made but I have a couple sets of front springs already). It’s an RPU so the rear is very light.

Rear crossmember needs the profile of a high arch spring. Also needs the arch to clear the axle center if it sits above the axle.

I always forget about that goofy rear spring (I understand the need but it’s not one of my favorite things. Dirt, all I had to go by (and it wasn’t critical for the question) is that a ‘37 ford has spring perches at 38” and the spring when not attached measures 33”. That’s 5 inches. 31A, I’m in Edmonds
