So I pulled the front end of my 29 model a briggs project. The front spring have about 3-4 broken leafs. The idea was to get a new spring and maybe one with a bit of a drop. Shot over to Speedway and saw this spring

Call me lazy and dumb for not pulling dimentions but they said on the site it fits
    1928-1934 Ford front ends.

Well after painting it i realize he this looks too short and not nearly as thick.

Any idea what im missing here? why would they say it fits is its way too short? I thought front springs should just fit right in with out a spreader?

I emailed Speedway but no reply so Ill give a call soon as a I can but thought with all the masters on here some one will shead some light.

    Cheers

Looks like you should have bought the 31 inch eye to eye. Wanna sell the original? : )

Yep, you got one for a 46 inch axle, you need a 31 inch wide spring, eye to eye.

Return it and get part number 910-33030.....it is even cheaper at $ 74.99.

One more time... Ford Front and rear springs must be spread to attach the shackles on all Model As, 32-34, 35-36, 37-41 passenger cars and pickups.

42-48 Ford passenger cars do not have to be spread and have a factory Panhard rod both front and rear to eliminate sidesway since the springs are installed loose.

Spread yes, but not overspread to compensate for ordering the wrong spring in the first place.

Here is my model a frame with a typical 48 inch axle and a 31 inch wide spring. Typical perch hole to perch hole measurement is 36 inches for these axles, and you deduct 5 inches to get the correct spring width........hence, 31 inches.
