    Hey Guys, Here's the situation.
I'm chipping away on my 1931 Model A coupe project and I need some solid advise. Hope you all could weigh in on this.
I have two front windows, one is the 1931 stocker that's very rotted out with broken glass. And a cherry 1928/1929 front window frame with nice clear glass. The glass dimensions are the same, but the frame style changed up for the 1930/1931 and those differences are obvious. Namely the "outer lip" is on the 1930/1931 and none on the earlier one. The 1928/1929 one is very nice, and I would like to use it on the 1931 coupe. The body and roof wood is not all together now but I'm hoping to start to****emble in July.
Questions. Do I need to find another 1930/1931 window?
Is this swap possible / feasible?
Who has done this type of swap?
    If so whats involved?
    Pros / Cons

    Thanks in advance.

I don't thing the 29 is as wide as the '30/31 and there's a difference in the cowl curvature also.

I believe the only difference is in the hinge at the top of the windshield, other wise they are the same...

scrap metal 48 is correct, it's the hinge location. The actual frame dimensions are identical.

The brackets for the slides are different along with the lower deflector, take the brackets off the '29 and use the ones from your later frame, trim the deflector to match your late frame and should be good to go.

So the install is possible from the sounds of it. That don't sound too bad.
How about the function? Will it seal up? I will install fresh wind lacing of course.

We just switched swing arm brackets on a '31 frame to fit a '29 and everything worked OK . Located some pictures I had found a while back on the 'net detailing the differences.

Not to turn this into a Ford Barn discussion, but there are a lot of different windsheilds on the a closed cars. Finding a good 30-31 may be the easy way out. Bob

Bob may very well be right as to the many possible variations in "A" windshield frames.

Just passing along what I found when looking for a usable windshield frame.

In our case the '30/'31 frame matched the shot '29 frame in external size, so I went ahead
and switched the swing arm brackets and chopped it. Worked out OK.

Rich B's info is accurate in general. I used a 28-29 windshield on my latest 30-31 coupe with the couple of changes already mentioned that is changing the swing out pivot brackets and trimming the wind deflector. You will also need a 30-31 hinge for the top as mentioned by Scrap Metal 48.

You should post a pic of your. That would help****ure it's nothing too strange.

Ditto on the lip and deflector differences... to add to that be careful at swapmeets as the later Ts were about 1" narrower and had a small tube for the hand operated w/s wiper along the top rail... 1930 -'31 Slant Windshield sedan and Vicky had Model A width but had a shorter / chopped w/s frame...
