I have a 29 model A and I'm using the stock gas tank. When I first put the thing together I bought a reproduction gas gauge, it just quit working. The float no longer floats. Whats the cure ? I****ume there are cheap gas gauges and good ones, where can I get a good one ? Or should I get a original gas gauge and rebuild it somehow ? ?

Replacement floats are cheap and reliable. I like Snyders

I was wondering the same thing. I have my original, is it worth rebuilding or just save the hassle and buy a Snyders?

Originals are best (except the floats get too bad to use)
theres nothing to rebuild on a Model a gas gauge. I used POR 15 to paint the numbers

The original and replacement cork floats do not hold up to the new ethanol in the gas. Take it out and replace it with the black, hard neoprene float and problem solved. When you buy a replacement gauge they actually recommend you install the neoprene float.

Don't forget to reverse the cork if you are converting to negative ground. :)

Seriously though, reuse your original gauge. Get the neoprene float and gasket set and redo it. I've been using one like that in my Model A for close to thirty years. Works like a champ.
