Does anyone know where this car is now? I’ve been searching for a while and haven’t came up with much.
The old for sale add I found said Indiana. I got in contact with one of the old owners that said it went to Tennessee. not sure who has it now or if they are on here.
Was this on IG? Seems like I just read a story about this car, It was either on here or IG. I dunno......I have old man brain.
this was my original post. All of the digging and phone calls paid off. I tracked the car down to a museum back east. They weren’t interested in selling the car- but after a few more days of calling i got in touch with the owner of the place. We ended up working out a trade with the altered. The plans are to leave the car as is but have the motor-trans ect freshened and get it on the road. The car is a 1930 model a gasser raced at bluegrass dragway Lexington Kentucky- thorn hill dragway-clay city and Manchester in the 50’s and 60’s. It was last raced in 1968 and put away in Winchester Kentucky-where it has sat. The engine is a 1965 Chevrolet 327- fuelie block and heads- magnesium 6-71 with Hilborn 4 port injection on methanol. The transmission is a B&m 4 speed hydro- with a 57 Chevy p case rearend.
I have a 90something year old uncle who's a farmer that gets that feeling whenever he's in an old wooden barn....says it makes him need to pee. I hope you don't have the same reaction looking at old racers.
When it popped up on eBay I saved some pics for reference. It's a neat car, I hope it gets brought back to life.
I’ll hopefully have the engine out soon to be rebuilt- and trans. Some of the stuff can’t be saved but I’m going to try to leave it alone as much as possible.
Looks like that was a serious effort car in it's day. Lot's of bad ass vintage speed equipment. There's got to be some pictures of it running at one of those tracks. I'd be too tempted to restore it back to it's glory days. Either way it's a great piece of drag racing history and must of been a $hit ton of fun.
