Glad you are doing the right thing with this bad**** old Model A . I wish it was mine. LOVE it! Keep us posted please.
Great find! Please keep posting progress. Yes, get it running and driving as is. You can always go back and do a full blown resto later after you enjoy it for awhile. What a "fairground pounder". I'd have to drive it to work at least once. Looks like it would carry the front wheels right through an intersection.
The new spring perches are done- new “old” spring that isn’t flattened and some new bearings. The front end will go back together tomorrow. I’m going to dig into the rear brakes next. I’m not sure what this cylinder came off of but looks like I’m going to need to find something new. The window also got cleaned up with some plastic restore- they came out great!
I had a bunch of pics of that car when they found it and pulled out of the building. Such a killer piece of history
Awesome!! Really glad someone has got their hands on this car to finally get it back running and driving instead of sitting around in different buildings!!! Great Job! I’m in for the resurrection ride!
Ho Ho... mental .. you got to love it , you cant ignore it . Questionable farmyard engineering with period state of the art blower and injection Oh yesssssss... Those guys must have had balls the size of melons and brain damaged on hooch.. What a way to go.. I bet even at idle you felt it was going to shake to bits , imagine what a buzz that would be with a hard launch , wheels in the air and a quick quarter time .. Beats all that mm perfect race car tech. Just torch the frame , gas weld a few flame cut brackets on there , add a blown and injected bow tie and go racing, what's not to like .. what a score . Great to see how dangerous motor sport used to be A knod to the good old days when men did manly***** in a dangerous manner
Congrats on the car! That is an incredible time capsule. How does the frame look? It appears to be unboxed? I wish my wife would let me work on cars in the house! You've got it made!
I dropped the engine off at Panella today. The blower- injection and mag are being sent out. They’re going through the rest of it. A lot of cool stuff at their shop! I need to find someone that can rebuild the hydro stick next- but that’s for another time.
Nice to see this end up in a Hambers hands...maybe it was before...no matter...quite the monster... I can't help but think how from a mild mannered beginning off the dealers lot in 1930/31 to a roaring pissed off 1/4 miler many years later...and here we are...having a return to past Excellence...Being this Hotrod is so solid, a secondary return further to its former glory is well warranted... It would be nice to see some pics from it's early days to round out this evolving good news story... Congratulations @BRENT MAGGI...that's a nice one...
That is an Isky drive, long out of production. They were nice and compact, there was one v-belt pulley on the crank hub so you could drive an alternator and the friction driven water pump worked great. If anyone finds one the Edelbrock SBC blower manifold is necessary, the drive was engineered for it.
All that does is Add Weight ( original thinking........or not)! Brent, please make it a tiny bit safer.
Milner's car got nothing on this one. @BRENT MAGGI , if you need somebody to drive it, I'm not doing anything particularly interesting in the foreseeable future.
The front end is rebuilt and back together. Next on the list will be replacing- rebuilding the rear brakes. I couldn’t find anything close the the master cylinder that it was running and decided I’m going to run something modern. It’s under the floor so it won’t be seen- and I want it to stop as good as possible. I need a set of rear tires if anyone knows of something for sale. Is like to run another set of m&h 10” slicks.
