I would have to look at the build sheet or cam card. the cam and pistons were “custom” made, not over the counter parts. The old cam was a iskenderian.
Brent, I don’t recall if you ever found out who the original builder was but he sure didn’t cut any corners on the engine. And it looks like everything Isky had available at the time was purchased, even the reverse rotation gear drive and cam set. I remember seeing and photographing it at the Meltdown Drags in 2017, your work on the car is doing it justice.
The owner was linville Davis from Lexington Kentucky. I believe he passed away in an accident with some machinery. I was told two other kids at the time helped build the car. Yes it is reverse rotation! Awesome photos, and thank you
I found some material that is close to what’s in the car. Lloyd sent multiple samples, but nothing was close in color. I appreciate it though!
I had a hunch based on the full Isky Blower set-up that it may have had the Super Le Gerra RR-550 grind in it. That's why I asked. I wonder what "G.D. Magum" references. Isky did make Magnum cams but they were 505T & 505C. Is the new cam also reverse rotation? When the time comes please post a video of it running. Edit; Looking back in the thread I see the new short block has a timing chain so new cam is standard rotation.
Awesome car. I'm following this now. I see you have a couple bmx bikes. I still have my Thruster tri-power I bought new in 82.
I believe Ryan had this coupe in his booth. It was wicked cool to see a bit of history and even better to see it in great hands.
Need more details! I want to see what you did, especially with those side panels that go around the windows! I need to make all that stuff.
I will post some pictures when it’s done. He went back to the shop to trim some of the panels. I was surprised when he said I’ll just do it here so you don’t have to tow another car here lol
The Fall leaves on the driveway won't be around long when you fire that up... What a juxtaposition from the dealer floor in 30/31 too today...
You're doing this thing justice Brent! Enjoy your photo updates as well. So I just noticed, that crank has counterweights in the center. Either welded GM or aftermarket, that's some big money back then. That engine has some nice hardware in it!! Is the front counterweight engraved? CT or CSC maybe? Could you see a GM forging number anywhere? Point of conjecture but I'm curious now. Did this crank go back in it? Don't remember if you mentioned what the stroke was....
Re sprayed the grille shell and tried to piece in the original wire as good as I could. Radiator is also in the car now. It was a 4 month wait and $1400 to have a original style one made with the fittings i needed, so I ended up buying a aluminum one and have a local race shop weld in and block off what needed to be. The radiator also had to be moved forward about 1.5” so the headlight bar mount needed to to moved about 1” forward. The fuel tank stand does not fit now.. I’m going to have something similar made but out of a little thicker material. I would not have trusted that on the front of the car even if it did still fit.
I honestly never even looked at the crank when I picked up the old parts. I threw it all away besides the cam. It has a new crank. Not one part in the engine was reused. it makes way more hp then the car can handle.
